question: is there a tool for download working webpages specially wikipedias\wikia pages like bulbapedia/animal crossing wiki etc?

reason (if you care): i often get no internet for months, and when that happens sometimes i wanted to read some articles on pokeymons or other games i play, i find it frustrating to, ask friends to go on internet, save pages in my pen and when i get home i forgot what i really wanted to save and i don't find praticall to have a folder with +50 single saved webpages and the respective folders.... its hard to search inside of them what i want...

so, i'd like a tool which i can use to save webpages and is links so i can use it offline...

If you use Firefox, you could try this:

Press SHIFT+F2, this will bring up the developer console. Type in "screenshot PageName.png --fullpage", and then press enter. This will take a complete screenshot of the entire webpage and will save it as a png to your download folder. Should work well enough I suppose.

Not sure very many browsers support offline cache viewing anymore, or at least I know Chrome doesn't.

thank you, screenshots is an idea, but is more easy to just press ctrl+s and then enter, the problem in this is i would like to have working links which point at my offline version of the page, plus a screenshot is static.. it doesnt give me freedom to select the text or links...

and i tried on firefox (which is what i use) and says it's not possible to use "--fullpage"

Works fine for me.

There are also tons of extensions for Firefox, like this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/scrapbook/

Has an option to save full webpages, but I'm not sure if that supports entire wikis...

if it saves them while i am browsing its great for me, i find a pain manually saving each single page and then searching for the one i want in that moment

for example i wish to check which route i can find some pokeymon its a pain to search for it in the middle of 600+ files\folders...

thank you very much, i will try it

Not sure if this will work but I suppose you could give HTTrack Website Copier a shot? I personally have not used this specific one though.

I used a different program back in the day but I can't quite recall the name. I THINK it has something to do with Penguin or something like that.

Not sure if this fits your needs, but it worked for personal use:

Add wiki/Special:Statistics AFTER the bare URL. Example:

http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Statistics

Look for Database dumps. Download it, and Mediawiki too.

It allows you to set up your """own""" offline Wikia, but with all the pages of the online Wikia.

Cons: doesn't have images..

I second HTTrack. Made a full backup of 3dbrew with it.

WinHTTrack definitely is a good choice. It lets you browse the backup as if it was live, although searches probably won't work. It will only download pages that are linked to.

i already knew that, it would need something like a script to make it work... but at least i can browse easly

thank you all for your help

edit: downloaded +1gb so far with httrack
