Alright, here's the skinny,

Got a CECHB (20gb) model here that I had initially rescued, and just set aside. It had 3.50 OFW then. More recently I was prepping it to run some of the 4.* CFW's, and everything turned on and seemed fine. However, I would then get an error around 65% of the way through, and it would fail in this constant update loop. Upon reading about this, it was indicating a failed bluray drive. Checked the ribbon cables, and the like. Followed iFixit's troubleshooter to determine that basically the drive's logic board is hosed. SO I know about that.

However, in my attempts to try and at least get it operational with a firmware that was supposed to bypass the BD drive check, I now get a new error code, that indicates a corrupted NAND. Oh, boy...

So, I ask you... what are my options?

I do have a basic soldering iron and some tools for that, true. But I had never soldered on an actual console before. I would imagine I need something that could allow me to reflash the NAND fresh and restore it somehow. For obvious reasons I don't want to simply submit it to $ony and pay them $200 to get one that's been OFW'd out, if I even get the same model back. I also am wagering I'll at least need a new bluray board, and somehow be able to remarry the drive, assuming I don't need a whole new drive altogether.

So, about how much is this all going to run me if I do it myself? Or is there someone capable of doing what's necessary to bring this 20gig back from the dead, for a reasonable price?

So does anyone know where I could get a nand flasher for the CECHB? Preferrably, from a seller in the US?

Modchipcentral is where I got my E3 Limited Flasher, they also sell a ProgSkeet if you're working with NAND. I highly doubt you'll find a US seller, but you can order from ModchipCentral and it will ship to you from Canada and it will arrive pretty fast. Once you get it, you can find help in your area with installation or do it yourself. A reasonable price for this service is $40-75.

Trust me, I've been unable to find anyone ANYWHERE near me that even does half this stuff. It's honestly depressing the last time I was trying to ask for help regarding the various soldering tools there were at Fry's Electronics here. :(
