There's no actually any reason, almost for me, to get PS4/XboxOne/WiiU.

Probably time gets better, but with failures coming from those first, and the WiiU not showing anything great (almost for me), i can save money for other stuff, like getting more 3ds games or maybe getting a Vita.

Well done emigre, maybe in the next months, you can get it new bundled or cheaper, when WiiU shows great stuff for you.

All you negative nellies really are hilariously boring. You don't like the Wii U yet seem to be always hanging around the Wii U section stinking up the place. The majority of people here that have a Wii U enjoy it and have enough games to keep them occupied like myself I have more enjoyable game to last me a good while and have games already out on my wishlist. So if Wii U isn't for you then go hang around the sections that you prefer.

Even Nintendo admitted to it being a failure

Well yes.
But I love the Wii
And I want Nintendo to do well.
I'm trying to learn why the Wii U flopped and what others think.

actually the failure meant they expected it to have done better so far than it has. no the wii u in general, just their expected sales target.

When one misses a sales target of a millions selling device but half a million or so it is a missed sales target. When one projects 9 million and falls short by more than 6 million.... it is something else. I agree it was probably a lofty goal, albeit in a similar manner to Mr Cobain probably having a bit of headache, but either way it is not a bit of a hiccup.

As for why people like to hang around these sorts of places.... it would just not do to have many of our number get that detached from reality.

they simply set their expectations far too high if they wanted those numbers then they shouldve got more games on the market, given it a different name and spent the dosh to hype up the product with a huge advertisement strategy. but they didnt and this is why they didnt meet their sales target not because of the console itself.

You were mentioning 1% and 2% differences...

Lines indicate approximate releases of the Wii and various big games. This is for Nintendo so it does account for both the Wii and DS lines.

That would be less than half of what it was in 2010 which in turn was about half of what it was it late 2007-2008, smaller drops have killed bigger and better companies. That is also why, contrary to the opinion of some around here, when Mr Pachter told people to get out in late 2007 (around the second Christmas of the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy being out, Super Paper Mario having been released already, Wii Mario Kart close enough to taste, Wii Fit out in Japan and coming out elsewhere at similar times, Smash Bros also very nearly out ) he was right.

That might not have helped.

The bad press and negative evaluations of the Wii U came the first day the plans were announced. And have continued and continued.

IMO, the fate of the Wii U was sealed early. It was a bad plan. It brought nothing and it showed.

I concur! Wii was successful (especially among "casuals") and had its peak, but continuing the use of the Wii brand may have been the great mistake Nintendo made this generation. There better be a Direct very soon to prove us wrong about the game situation. I just fear what might happen if Mario Kart, Smash, etc, won't bring the sales numbers Nintendo is hoping for.

I have a Wii U, and of all the games I have, I can't say that I dislike any of them, not in the slightest bit. My only complaint at the moment is lack of games. So far it's been growing at the pace of the Game Cube, though I've a feeling they'll have that turned around (like the Gamecube) by the end of it's life span, slowly over time.

As far as unique experience, yes I'd say so. Though the controller is a tablet like so many of us have, it also doubles as the best dual analog joypad I have ever used in my life! Likewise I really like the touch screen, it looks nice and responds, that's all I could ask for. As for adding in innovation for games, that it does well also, I love having my menu screen on the controller in most games, or the world map (man we need a 2D Castlevania), etc. As for how it is used to change the game play experience, well one free title that really exploits to what degree this can be done, is Nintendo Land. It's kiddy and not feature rich on the graphics, but it's addictive and does show off well some of the things the controller can do in conjunction with a TV.

On top of that, I really like most of the Wii U Ware that's out (there should be a LOT more by now), especially UnEpic. Great little Castlevania/RPG/Comedy, and it's like it was built from the ground up to be played on the controller, though it works great with a large TV too!

Besides, you can always mod your vWii was well, once Nintendont is polished off, we'll have no use for our old Wiis any more.

Oh, so the PS4/Vita/3DS combo.
Ys and Half-Life for sure! Mario is a given! :)
