Intended as a companion app to SysCheck, InspectMii shows and logs every single significant setting on your Wii. It is especially useful if you are looking for any conflicting or potentially problematic settings. Info is grabbed from SYSCONF, dhcp.dat, and setting.txt.

Downloads
InspectMii v1.2
You can download the source at Google Code
Please do not host these files elsewhere. It is much easier to keep everything up to date if it's only at one source.

Changes
v1.2
  • Added new SYSCONF settings, including NDEV ones and the Motion Plus one
  • Changed the order of the network log and printf functions so it will save the latest if InspectMii crashes
  • Added ASCII InspectMii art to the title screen
  • Wrote code for displaying network key (will not be logged)
  • Fixed incorrect network encryption names
  • Added proxy settings
  • Fixed a few minor typos and unorganized code
v1.1
  • Counter Bias hours are converted to years-months-days (thanks OverjoY)
  • Changed the page titles to better convey the purpose of the file being checked
  • Added DNS Source to the network page
  • Greatly improved the file log code so it will save results even if the app crashes
  • Log file is now named "InspectMii.log"
  • A fair amount of code cleanup
v1.0
  • Original release
Credits
  • God for always being there for me
  • megazig is always helping me on something, he probably gave suggestions I don't remember
  • Coto for the app title, as well as everyone who voted
  • Acidflare for lots of testing
  • Mountain Dew for making me immortal (untested)
Donations
While donations are very much appreciated, don't do it because you feel that's the only way to get future releases.

Thanks guys.

By the way, as you may have guessed, those SSID's in the video are fake. The Parental Password isn't real either. ;)

:( But I love this program so much; it's just so... useful. I might decide it to get it one of these days, though. Don't really feel like loading apps onto my card. ;)

That's what wiiload is for. I almost never eject my SD card from my Wii or Wii U. I just send apps and dols over wifi.

Some people at Wii-Homebrew.com had some concerns about this app, especially because of the Parental Settings. I'd like to share my response:
I don't speak German, but from what I understand, you are concerned about the parental information and privacy. I'd like to address that.

First, I would like to assure you that NO data is uploaded. Everything is read from files on your Wii and stored to InspectMii.log, but it doesn't go any farther than that. It is open source, so you can see for yourself.

You'll notice I didn't include the network passkey. I wrote up that code, but decided not to include it because I felt it was an unnecessary risk. What if somebody posted their log online and forgot to remove it? It might present a security risk, which is something I certainly don't want. I wrote this app to help people.

As for showing the parental information, I struggled with that for awhile. On one hand, it would be helpful for people who forgot their PIN/answer, or who bought a used Wii. On the other, kids might use it to bypass parental controls. In the end, I decided to include it. There has been a way to bypass the parental settings for years, so I decided my concerns were unwarranted.

If you have more concerns, I would be happy to address them.

did u ever consider and all in one app , syscheck and inspectmii kinda scenario..
Yeah, but it was waaaaaaaaaay easier to build this from the ground up instead of making a ton of modifications to SysCheck HDE. Ground up meant less work, less code, and less chance of bugs. I think I went the right way.

I've actually started getting tiny blisters on my fingers from typing so much, so I try to cut it to a minimum.

Yeah i understand the "why break what isnt broke" approach , i just figured they were such similar apps that it wouldve been a cool all in one app ..
They are similar, but at the same time very different. SysCheck tells you what's installed, InspectMii tells you what settings you have.

is there a difference between GX and HDE?
Yes. HDE has a bunch of bug fixes and new features. There is a link to it in the InspectMii description.

This doesn't modify your NAND. You have a (partially) region changed Wii. Run SysCheck HDE and InspectMii, then upload both the logs. I'll help you fix it.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
