To backup using Win32 Disk Imager, you need to insert the SD card and know what drive letter Windows gives it...
Then in Win32 Disk Imager, choose the drive letter from the dropdown menu and press the little folder item to "open" an .img file
Instead of opening a file, simply browse to a directory where you want to save the backup, write a filename for it (like backup.img) and then you can use the Read option

Once you have done that, perhaps I can write something up to change your emuNAND to make it R4i compatible...
Ok Sounds good Nurio. Thanks for the assist!

I don't know if I mentioned before, but if I boot with L and choose GW/R4i mode, the things are working and I can play Zelda again. Still kinda weird.

You're welcome... And that is weird... I actually doubt a little this will solve it, but it never hurts to try this, especially since we have a backup of your SD card now.

If you happen to have another SD card, perhaps you can format EmuNAND on it, but now with the R4i. If we both have an R4i EmuNAND 'partition' and a Gateway EmuNAND partition, we might find out the differences and transform the Gateway into an R4i EmuNAND.

So the discimager method is kinda backwards with selecting a save name/area before it lets you write to it. (vs. choosing the action you are trying to perform, and then asking for specifics)

Trying to find a site to host a 4 gb file now.... :-/

So I don't recall exactly, but I may have wiped this card before replacing the gw launcher with the R4 one. If that's the case, then my 6.3 emunand is gone right? Is it possible to recover it from my drag/drop SD backup I did right after the 6.3 update was performed? (even if there has to be tweaking)

I guess the way things are looking, is that 7.0 update doesn't seem THAT bad, and gw will probably introduce patches soon to get things working better/eshop up and running. But would be nice if I didn't hose myself due to not understanding that the actual IMAGE of the card should've been backed up vs the files on board.
Maybe there's a tool to mimic the file size/partition of the current SD card, with the 6.3 files I saved. (maybe it's not even worth it in the end to mess with it to that extent!)

Sadly, a drag-and-drop backup of the SD has nothing to do with the EmuNAND. It's in unallocated space and can't be backed up by such means, sorry.

Ok. Here's the file from the writer, compressed with winrar:

*removed*
Do not share EmuNAND or NAND dump copy.

As I said, just the ROM. Doesn't R4i have instructions on how to boot ROMs with their cart? I don't have this cart, but normally, you create a "Roms" folder to place .nds roms for DS flashcards.

It didn't work. I'm sure the card is defective it doesn't seem to recognize when microsd cards are inserted.

again, why arent you using the blue card with the firmware provided by the gateway?

Oups meant blue card. Anyway all going to be sent back must be defective cause I'm not that dense I've been trying and retrying everything as everyone else and it's just not working. Thanks though... I might ask help again with my new card!

I'm going to check it out. Have you also made an EmuNAND with the R4i, so that we can compare? Make an EmuNAND on a different SD, then make an image of that as well.
I did, but I didnt make it right. I did the windows drag n drop. Didnt understand I needed to make an image. So im pretty much stuck with the 7.0 update for the emunand side. Oh well. :-/
