I lost my DSTWO a long time ago and found it recently. It hasn't been used in a long time but it looks to be in fine condition. I tried plugging it in and expected the usual "Alex Rider" iconge thing to pop up and... Nothing. I plugged, unpluggeds the cart, the 8GB MicroSD card and updated the firm ware. Nothing. Nothing at all. The MicroSD works fine but the stupid DSTWO won't show up.

Lick the contacts, HOW STUPID it may sound that always works for me. OF COURSE you dry the DSTWO before even doing anything with it. A technician from my work taught me this trick and it works great.

Else try to use some contact cleaning spray.

If it's been a long time since you last used it, and you updated your 3DS within that time, then it's likely that your DSTWO may not work. You'll have to update it, but without either a non-updated 3DS/DSi or a regular DS, you won't be able to.
Actually the DSTWO is the one card you can update even if your 3DS is updated beyond what it supports, though it is better to update the DSTWO first.

Anyway, sounds like a contact issue, try the paper trick.

Paper trick?

Paper trick?

As already mentioned, you DO have EOS on the microSD, right? I'd even try formatting the card with the Panasonic SD Formatter and reinstalling just EOS to see if you can get it to boot, failing that, try another microSD or the paper trick.

Also, try taking the cart out of its shell and running over all of the contacts on it with a rubber pencil eraser to clean them up. Make sure you wipe off any residue and remnants form the eraser with a dry cloth afterwards.

Yes EOS was installed. I'm still trying the paper trick and the last thing I want to do is take the thing apart and damage it further.

Paper trick is going to be really, really hard to accomplish on the DSTWO without taking the shell apart due to the contact guides on the shell.

To take it apart there's one screw (don't lose it), then the front half of the cart is going to be "stuck" on due to the sticker adhering to the chips that poke through. Take your time and gently peel the front half of the shell off of the cartridge. As long as you don't hurry it along, you shouldn't harm anything. Worst you'll really do is crack the shell or tear the sticker from going too fast/rough.

Did what you said exactly and it didn't work.

Yep, it works really (I used this trick serveral times, too). But I think that it's not very good for the contacts.
If you don't want to lick the contacts directly, you can spill at your finger and rub your finger over the contact.

just keep blowing.

I'm partly serious, lol. the air that comes out of our mouth has water particles in it. that's why it works.

this is a short-term solution, but at long-term it will make it worse every time...
