Hardware Looking for a 3DS R4 in AU

Hey. New user here, just found these forums.

Been looking at buying a 3ds. but wanted to get a R4 along side with it, and would prefer a site thats actually within AUS. I'm looking for a R4 that can run 3D games (i.e. pokemon X) and older DS games.

I've been on this site Http://www.modchipfactory which as far as I can tell is outside AUS, I've also found a card ( R4I gold3ds deluxe edition) from OZ3ds, after some quick reading I can't tell if I can trust these sites.
If anyone could push me in the right direction that would be awesome.

The Gateway 3DS is probably your best choice. However, it (and all other 3DS cards) only work if your 3DS firmware is at minimum 4.0 and at maximum 4.5. If you get a 3DS that has a firmware version under 4.0, you can use a game card to update it to the right firmware. However, any 3DS with a firmware higher than 4.5 will not be able to use 3DS backup devices.
Also, Pokemon X and Y are unplayable on every 3DS card out there, although the Gateway 3DS at least is supposed to get an update that fixes it eventually.

just make sure you have a 3DS on 4.1>4.5 Firmware if you want to use it

Gateway comes with a DS Flashcard also to play DS games, but its not the Greatest
you can always get a R4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS flashcard though if you want a good one, or a DSTwo

until the 2.0 Gateway Update comes out tho the R4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe rivals it pretty well tho, and it comes with a R4i Gold 3DS Flashcard Also
(the Deluxe is the 3DS card)

Stupid question incoming - What firmware does the 3DSXL come preloaded when bought from a store? if you happen to know.

depends on the console colour and production date

better to go in store and see the year on the box
2012 dated boxes are safe, 2013 boxes are risky, if you buy a preowned console you can normally ask to try it out, then just go under the system settings and check

Just want to mention, they are called flashcarts, not R4s. That's a common mistake, thanks to the way Nintendo advertised flashcarts.
I recommend zhuzhuchina.com, they are the cheapest though they are not in AUS but they are reliable. They also take PayPal.

Firmware 5.X Didnt come out until March 2013
so if you buy one in a 2012 and its got higher firmware, its a Referb or used, formatted and put back

it was produced in 2012, Firmware wasnt Available till March 2013 though download, its impossible

Then I guess there are 2013 3DSes that still have the 2012 copyright on the box. Regardless of the reason, it happened.

havnt used a 3DSLink

only the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe & Gateway 3DS

When I was looking over the gateway I saw no indication that it could take a micro. sorry mate.

When looking over the Gateway site. it says this - Q: Is it one microSD per game?
A: Currently yes.

If you own one of these, can you comfirm that you can only have one game per Micro or can you put more than one on it.
