Hacking R4i Gold on 2DS

Hi everyone.

Sorry but this is a noob question.

Is it as simple as plug and play with the R4i in the 2DS?

I've some eperience with the old R4 cart with my DS but now I've upgraded to the 2DS and just bought the R4i gold cart to go with it.

I know with the old R4 cart, I had to have some additional files on the SD card to allow the cart to talk to the DS, is it the same with the 2DS?

Any help would be m,uch appreciated guys.

"r4i gold 2ds" as a google search answered your question with youtube vids, reviews, and links to the same question asked in many other places.

by additional files you mean the kernel? if its a real r4i gold you will need the wood kernel. http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/f...ad-wood-r4-for-r4i-gold-r4ids-160-f32050.html

If you're after playing 3ds roms, it won't work.

If you're after DS roms, be sure the flash kart is the latest.

The R4i Gold can't play 3DS roms, however it can play roms on a 3DS, per say.

from what i could find, the 2ds ships with a 6.x firmware. the 3ds-mode exploit requires firmware 4.1-4.5. as of right now, there is no way to play 3ds roms in 3ds-mode on the 2ds.

How come? it arrived the other day, I downloaded the most up to date kernel and installed it on my SD card. Everything seems to be working ok (as in it plays all the ds roms I've thrown at it so far)

is there something I need to watch out for?

If you like to update your 2/3DS/XL with the latest firmware, your going to be buying a new R4 clone real soon.

The R4 clone makers moved to a "you are no longer entitled to free updates, you want the new update your buying a new R4 from us" mentality.

Looks like I'm gonna have to keep the firmware I've got........ until they finally crack the 3DS and release a proper cart that will allow me to play 3DS roms

If you are to buy another flashcard, get a DSTWO. Ones made before the 3DS and 2DS were released work on the latest official firmware.
