I recently did a transfer from hard drive to hard drive using true image acronis by backing up the original hard drive and restoring it on the other.

now the problem is, my computer wont detect anything i put into the audio jack.

i cant figure out what the problem is, ive repeatedly uninstalled and installed drivers but to no avail, and whats worse is i dont even know the manufacturer of this computer because its custom made.

if anybody can help me solve this ridiculous puzzle i'd be extremely grateful

(Please be on Win7)

Can you go into your playback devices and get it to show by right clicking in the window and checking those two options of they're not already selected?

A Print Screen of your Device Manager with the Audio tab opened as well as the audio driver's Properties window would be very helpful here. It's entirely possible that the driver is installed but the device itself is disabled.

Click on "View" and then "Show Hidden Devices", if you still can't see anything, click "Scan for Hardware Changes". Anything popping up then? That, and make sure that the Audio chip is enabled in the BIOS.

Go to the "Driver" section and check if you have the option to Enable it. If not, you should have the option to Update the driver, which will take you to a browsing window where you can select the appropriate driver from your hard drive.
