I would love a 2DS, and I might grab one later to use as my Non-hacking 3DS. My friend is getting a blue one and Pokemon X to match, and he's gonna show me it when I head back to school on Tuesday. I can't wait to put it in my hands and see what it's like.

Got my 2DS (electric blue).

I've tested both a DS2 and a GW Blue card -- both are running fine as expected on starting firmware 6.0.0-12U. (the DS2 was a very tight fit tho)

Other notes:
*Its not ugly at all, looks a lot better than online pics but I'd stop short of saying it looks better than my Flame Red OG. Looks better than my
XL though
*Slightly heavier than I imagined.
*Sound is better than I imagined although you can feel the vibration behind the system.
*Seems a little dimmer than the OG but the clarity is nice.
*D-pad is spongy like most people say but still feels quality.
*It won't power on if you have it in sleep mode (this scared me bunches :P)
*It has an optional 2DS specific tutorial on the initial system setup screen.
*Volume slider is hard to move even if you know where it is. (too recessed)
*All game controls feel quality along with the system's general build quality
*DS games look great. Natural color, full screen clarity, small screen divider, and loud speaker are all highlights.
*rated at 4.1 watts just like the 3DS OG (it has a 1300mAmp battery too)

That's all I can think of now. I'm happy with my purchase. : )

Any questions feel free to ask.

Great overview, Snailface! Would you say DS games look better than when played on 3DS and 3DSXL? Also, if you ever tried them old machines, how does it compare to playing on DS Lite or DSiXL? The reduced gap between screens should help a lot for some games.

2DS and 3DS are the SAME but unfoldable, no 3d, and $40 cheaper.

Well yes, but I mean Ninty could have pulled a fast one on us. I know it uses a different firmware, as stated earlier in this thread there's a 2DS logo instead of a 3DS one is certain places.

I just thought it would be good to test it out, you know? Never really know until you try it.

I thought so. Mileage may vary though given this is a pretty subjective measurement. Not to mention manufacturing tolerances can create different color temperatures in different samples of the same model screens. One clear advantage of the 2DS, certainly, is that because of a single screen covering both panels, there can be no temperature difference between panels on a single unit.

That said, I don't think it compares well to original DS(i) machines because they can display full screen without any filtering.
Has anyone actually tried a flashcard on a 2DS?

Hey Snailface, how comfy would you say it is in your hands when gaming? I was thinking it probably feels similar to the Wii U pad.

Honestly the comfort is somewhere like this: XL > 2DS > Gamepad > OG

The shoulder buttons are comfy but a little too close to the face controls, and I have small hands. The D-pad could be a little bigger and less stiff, too.

Its still feels nice overall though.

Does it have clicky face buttons or like GBA buttons?

Sorry, I had a bad case of forum blindness D:

I live in the edge of the world, so I'd rather get a cheap 2ds than a 3ds (you won't believe how expensive it is here).
