ASince I'm currently having a hell of a time with my 6 Micro SD's refusing to work with DSLinux no matter what formatting, cluster size, Dingoo Files I use I guess it's time to do this:

Make a comprehensive list that has all Micro SD's on it as detailed as possbile.

* Grey ones are the ones I own and can confirm personally "non-working"

Isos to try:
- By zfreeman: ISO (1.1GB)
- By user64: DMG (8.1GB)
WARNING: Using these Isos WILL ERASE all content on your MicroSD
Make a Backup first !
(write to MicroSD using Win32Disk Imager or SD Imager for OSX Alternatively use Disk Utility for Mac

Also: If ANYONE knows how to get in contact with tysong please share that way to contact him/ ask him if he would be so kind as to share the source of DS Two/iPlayer Linux !!!!

General Rules accumultated so far:
- Try using Class 4 Micro SD Cards @
- Do not use the Windows Format tool, Gparted, nor Panasonic SD formatter @
- Format the card with "standart cluster size" @
- Format using Partition Wizard Home Edition (FAT32 with cluster size set to 16kb) @
- Make sure the dmenu.ini file on the card is not corrupted @

Thanks VatoLoco, user64, zfreeman and The Catboy ! You guys/gal(s) really helped me out by getting many files to try out, you made this thread possible !

As I said in the main thread, I got it working on Kingston 32GB Class 4 Micro SDHC, and Adata 8GB Class 10 Micro SDHC.

No problem! ^_^ I commonly acquire different MicroSD card, so I will run some more tests to find some more that do/don't work! :yay:
Also your dropbox pictures are giving me an error

Yes :) I posted them here even before they finished upoading.

I always do this so my Laptop can finish uploading while I learn/post/tweet whatever.

Alright ^_^
So I've done a ton of work testing out different MicroSD cards and speeds. So far I've found very little success with Class 2 cards (at least none of mine.) I've tested out different ways to format them and different set setups. The best result I got was with my Class 2 Sandisk 4GB, which I used the Windows Command "format X: /Q /A:32k /FS:FAT32 and on Linux "mkdosfs -I -F32 directory/device_name" but sadly it only worked once then hung on boot the upon second boot up.
I do not suggest using the Windows Format tool, Gparted, nor Panasonic SD formatter. I have tested all of them with countless settings and all just hung upon boot with any of my MicroSD cards, even the ones that work.

Since there seems to be a greater spark in the flashcard world again, I'll throw in my hat as an old DS guru and help! ^_^

I hate to double post, but I would like to mention the picture with the Leafeon (the 8GB class 2 and 16Gb class 2) are actually Sandisk and don't work with DSTwo linux. The second picture with the Glaceon (the unbranded 4GB Class 4 and Kingston 8GB Class 4) are the ones that do work.
The figures were added because my camera wouldn't focus on the cards, but it would focus on the figures, it also makes them easier to tell the differences. And also because Glaceon is adorable.

Ok, added that info.

Thanks for sharing.

If anyone happens to buy a Micro SD online and can confirm (EBAY, online shop etc.)

Please share:
- Online retailer
- Price
- Picture of Micro SD (would be perfect if you could also add the packing for easier identification).

=> So we can compile a list (USA, Germany, China, Austria.... etc.) so everyone can order one without having to pay horrendous shipping costs.

If you use specific formatting tools/options please also share them.

As you can see I collect ISO's shared by members.

Feel free to try those out with your card (requires Win32 Disk imager or SD Imager for OSX)

I do not suggest using the Windows Format tool, Gparted, nor Panasonic SD formatter. I have tested all of them with countless settings and all just hung upon boot with any of my MicroSD cards, even the ones that work.

Ok, that sounds fine.
However, what Tools DO you suggest to use ?
This might be a key point.

Most people use the Windows command line or the Windows built in format tool
(both fail for me).

Suggestions ?

Alright ^_^
So I've done a ton of work testing out different MicroSD cards and speeds....

If you want:
I compiled a Excel list ages ago:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u...e_Support/NDS/DSTwo/Dingu/MicroSD/Partial.xls

Maybe it will make your testing speedier/more complete

EDIT: Added cards I own that do not work, with pictures.

here's one more that works for me.
2 GB Sandisk (formatted with Partition Wizard Home Edition to FAT16 with default cluster size).

edit: just wanted to note that the reason I format to 16kb clusters on my SDHC's is because it REALLY helps the scrolling smoothness for BAGPlug, which i use as my default GUI on DSTwo.

so, i'm not certain as to how important the clustersize is for DSTwo Linux.
maybe tonight i'll try format with 32 or 64 clusters to see if it matters.

The equivalent Mac command is
Code:
sudo newfs_msdos -F 32 -c 64 -v NEWNAME DIRECTORYOFCARD

Also note that I got the Kingston 32GB working by restoring an 8GB disk image from my adata class 10, I can't get it to work with more than 8 GB available on the card.

Which is why I'd need a 2gb version of said disk image.

i had unexpected end of archive for windows
Any ideas?
i try everything i can think of
so far nothing work to fix it

What are you refering to ?

The iso files ?
If yes:

You do not extract them !

You write them to the Micro SD Card in question using WIN32 Disk Imager !

If you could add to the first post to use disk utility to restore the iso/dmg files on mac, that'd be nice.
