This has got to be the hardest RPG I've ever played. But I'm still loving it.

After the...
Hooded Man fights
I was too frustrated to stay on the normal difficulty. So I put in on easy mode, but that's TOO easy. I need an in between dang it! I want a challenge, just not one that makes me save every 2 minutes or throw my 3DS at a wall. I'm only 4 hours in, btw, and this is my first ATLUS RPG.

I'm putting it back on normal mode right now.

I'm having an awesome time and I don't think I've even made a NICK in the game yet.
I just finished my 3rd training exercise in naraku, and currently have a Gryphon, Centaur, and Lauhm Derg (or whatever his name is) as my current party.
MAN recruiting the Gryphon AND the Centaur was a PAAAIIINNN.

Spent a good chunk of my time since Tuesday playing this. Haven't actually turned on my 3DS today but so far I'm right past the
Xi Wangmu
fight. My only real gripe is that there apparently no name markers on the Tokyo map, aside from when you're right 'on top' of an area. Very annoying for figuring out where I'm supposed to go in Challenge Quests because fuck if I know where all these places are, or if I've even found them yet. I also don't quite get the point of some of the domains with level 75 bosses that you can take down no sweat at level 25-30, but given the reward descriptions I assume they're part of some quest I haven't gotten to yet.

Anyways, I'm really loving the game aside from those two small parts. Spent $15 from the promo on the remaining Fire Emblem DLC (and the grinding DLC for this game, which I probaly won't even use until my second or third run), I'll probably grab a $20 eShop card and spend what's left on Animal Crossing.

I've officially fallen in love with the game. It started off slow but once you reach
Tokyo
it really picks up. Really really enjoying it.

The DLC tries to charge $.99 despite saying it's a free DLC.

Don't know if it's an error or not, on Atlus's part. If it is, hopefully they fix it. If not, this is shady and underhanded as heck.

Those are supposed to be payed DLC, the free ones were the White armors I think. Probably just an error as you said.

edit: In-game DLC shops are still an extension to the actual 3DS eshop application, so Atlus doesn't directly change the prices. Ninty's fault. ^^'

I'm currently about 50 hours in. The game is relentless. There's, like, zero fluff added here. I mean, this crazy game just keeps on givin'. And man, does it get "out there!" I don't understand how some reviewers took issue with the story, unless they only put in a handful of hours because it really takes off later and never lets up. The balance is also so on the money. I haven't had to grind a single time (playing on Normal the entire time) in my 50 hours of play. It will be impossible to go back to some other franchises after this.

1.Buy DLC
2.Call Ninty and say that it says its free but u paid for it
3.Get repaid from Ninty and get the DLC for free

Now on topic: So i hear its hard..... DAMN I NEED THAT GAME NAO!
Good thing that we are getting it this year.

I'm really far behind since I'm balancing playing this and AC, but I'm about 20 hours in and just finished the breakfast mission.

...What on Earth have you been doing for twenty hours in the first floors of Naraku? o.0
I'm 12 hours in and I'm fighting level 25-30 demons. Won't name location because of spoilers. OvO But I've taken my time, too...

Lots and lots of grinding o3o
And there was one point where I chose death instead of paying (I couldn't back out of the pay with makka screen) and I hadn't saved in forever so I had to redo all the challenge crap and re-rescue *spoiler*
So that set me back awhile >.>

Just to confirm my earlier statement

I put the other two in spoilers since I guess they can give away small elements of the story. Just to be safe.

About 20 hours in myself. I'm lost in Tokyo. I crossed the first river and found a
black demonica
but I'm super lost. On about level 23 with nearly 50 magic, 45 agl and luck. My dex and str are negligent but my mana recharges as I walk.

I was really struggling at first until I realized you can leave naraku and hit the barracks for free healing. Since then it's been a cakewalk. Haven't dropped the difficulty. I'm actually having an easier time with this since there are less bs deaths than nocturne. Demons can save your butt if anything happens to you.

Just wait until you get the app for party MP healing (if you choose to) as you walk. You can go all out each encounter and recharge most of it by the time you hit another enemy.

As for the tokyo map, yeah, it's terrible. No way to see what each place is called without going into the area and then remembering where it is.
penguin_knight on gamefaqs beat me to changing this map to english, it helps.

I find the hardest part is if you don't look where you're going, a monster is gonna get you. Unless you get tagged face-first, you're probably gonna get a guaranteed ambush, with free shots for the enemy. So just learn to swing first. Otherwise combat is really gonna hurt.

And make sure to get as much healing demons as you can, and put them in the stock so they can heal after the battle. Then when they whisper, grab the Dia so you can heal in-battle.

I'm about 50 hours in now, still scouring Tokyo for stuffs :P
Most recent quest I completed was the challenge quest of delivering the Film Camera. And I activated my 3rd terminal (whatever the name of the city with the K is)

Yeah, I went all the way up to just under 80 hours on my first (Neutral) playthrough before finally giving in and ending. Did three of the fiends before moving on, though, and I'll probably try to do the other three this time around (Chaos). Then it's on to Law and bad (just to be complete). Amazing game. Can't say enough good stuff about it. Not happy with the DLC, but the game proper is stellar.

It took me 10 hours to get to Tokyo. How bad am I at this?

Depends, were you enjoying every minute of that time, or were you dying repeatedly against Minotaur/Medusa? x)
This game gives you a ton of play time. Don't feel bad about hours. :)

edit: I'm level 58, and about 25 hours in. But I've played every SMT so I'm used to the flow of things...
