I said this in the Gamescom thread but the only way to save the Vita is if Sony actually focus on it.
At E3, Sony only gave the Vita a 10 minute show before quickly switching to the PS4.

Bahaha, interesting.

I think they can save the PS Vita by localizing obscure but awesome RPGs like Ys: Memories of Celceta and Sen no Kiseki

They need a price drop.... they can't sell a handheld at 250$ (which doesn't include your 20$ memory card since most people will want to buy at the store not online) the PS4 is coming out and the Vita is almost 3/4 of the price of one. That is pretty hard to sell certainly when you can't get away with the slogan console gaming on the go anymore. Remote play isn't a selling point for most people because they don't own a Vita AND a PS3 and now that the PS4 has already stated that the Vita will not be able to play all games with remote play so the Vita isn't even a viable companion for the PS4 anymore. So remote play will be just like the PS3 barely supported and the games that do support will not be playable using it. The other reasons are hard to do just because Sony doesn't own any big named games to bring to the smaller screen that is worth the time and money to put on it. You can't really name a Vita game that can sell the handheld because the games are likely already comes on PS3 the same day. No developer wants to touch the Vita because it doesn't have anything that is worthy of selling the handheld even with a price drop they would need to do it at the same time with a must have game....

This is why the 3DS did so well Price Drop + Mario Kart 7 = Sales through the roof..... The Vita can't do this maybe in the states but in other countries they don't care about FPS as much as we do. The Vita already lost out on Monster Hunter 4 which was a handheld seller for the PSP in Japan but it is coming out on the 3DS.

Ps.: The Wii U sold more units at launch than the Vita has sold in general:
3.45 million Wii U consoles sold, 2.9 Million Vitas sold - data is from July THIS YEAR!

So everything in that post is wrong...

Either way Nintendo easily has console sellers so it won't be a problem when they drop new first party games lol

Vita selling here is a lost cause in the West even with a price drop, nothing to care about for it unless you import.

I want to see how Sony treats the Vita at TGS, I think Sony will treat it with respect unlike what they did at Gamescom, but with the PS4, it may get less focus time.

That's pretty much like saying that selling oranges makes no sense when apples are around.

A lot of people might be interested in a combination like that even if for the sake of PSPlus alone plus the only games that will not work on the PSVita are the ones that require the PSMove setup or other PS4-specific functionality that the PSVita just doesn't have, which is pretty logical if you ask me.
So remote play will be just like the PS3 barely supported and the games that do support will not be playable using it.
Yeah... no.

And this is a problem how? Again, apples and oranges. I personally love the idea of Cross-Buy and I don't see a problem with ports either as long as they're good ports.

The only reason why the PSVita doesn't see a lot of attention is the relatively small install base which can and will change over time.
This is why the 3DS did so well Price Drop + Mario Kart 7 = Sales through the roof..... The Vita can't do this maybe in the states but in other countries they don't care about FPS as much as we do.
Why can't it and how do you know that? I'm pretty damn sure that FPS games are popular outside of the U.S.
The Vita already lost out on Monster Hunter 4 which was a handheld seller for the PSP in Japan but it is coming out on the 3DS.
It "lost out" on Monster Hunter 4 before it was even released - Capcom and Nintendo signed an exclusivity deal on that game, it has nothing to do with PSVita's sales being poor, it has to do with business.

I don't think you understand how the industry works lol It may be apples to oranges to you but for people who can only afford one or two consoles a generation they are all in the same basket (Home consoles and handhelds). There are plenty of people who only end up owning one or the other handheld over people that own both you can clearly see that just by asking your friends and family how many own a DS and a PSP. I never mentioned PSN Plus I was only talking about the Remote Play that they announced at E3 was actually BS. He said the PS4 will "just support it" so that means every game will support Remote Play like a CFW PS3 supports Remote Play which is pretty terrible because if you just have things like lets say R2/3 and L2/3 hotkeyed to the touch panel now imagine that and you will quickly notice how bad it will get. If that is too hard for you try playing Bioshock Infinite without using R2/3 and L2/3 and you will slowly be filled with rage. Also, Remote Play is crap if you are not using it with a great connection so playing Locally gives you the best results but if I am sitting within walking distance of my PS3/4 I would rather play it on a big screen TV with a real controller..... How many games actually support Cross-Buy last time I checked you can count them on one hand that aren't Indie games? Out of many ports of games the Vita gets they should all come with Cross Buy since most people shouldn't have to pay 80-90$ for two games if they want it for home and on the go if they are the exact same game. You can easily check the sales of any FPS and tell that the US is the only place that really buys FPS while the rest of the world doesn't care. Just to put one stat out there CoD MW3 (the best selling game in the series) sold close to 9.5 million in the US, 4 million in the UK and only 140,000 in Japan. Compare that to Monster Hunter Freedom 3 on PSP sold 440,000 in the US, 420,000 in the UK, and 4 million in Japan so it is pretty clear Japan loves them other genres over FPS. That also covers the Monster Hunter 4 statement you said Sony if they had any common sense for getting Monster Hunter series = great sales in Japan would have said to themselves maybe we should cut them a couple million to have it on our handheld as well and not let Nintendo walk away with one of our biggest sellers last generation as an exclusive deal.

Interesting. Let's see:
It may be apples to oranges to you but for people who can only afford one or two consoles a generation they are all in the same basket (Home consoles and handhelds).
Apples and oranges. Some people like portable consoles, others like home consoles, even others like both. Completely different products for completely different audiences.
There are plenty of people who only end up owning one or the other handheld over people that own both you can clearly see that just by asking your friends and family how many own a DS and a PSP.
Except the PS4 isn't a handheld which you seemed to have been implying all along. The upcoming PS4 in no way hampers the PSVita's chances because it's not in the same sector of the industry.
What good would total support give you if the PSVita isn't compatible with the PSEye or other necessary accessories for certain games? You wouldn't be able to play them so why support them, for bragging rights or just to receive complaints that they're not working? Explain.

The games that are playable on the PSVita's control scheme will be playable on it, that's what matters. As for mapping L2/R2/L3/R3 - left side of the touchpad/right side of the touchpad/left side of the touch screen/right side of the touch screen - done.
Except you don't always have that option, do you? Sometimes you just want to stay in bed and play your favourite games without going downstairs and Remote Play gives you that option - what's not to like?
How many games actually support Cross-Buy last time I checked you can count them on one hand that aren't Indie games? Out of many ports of games the Vita gets they should all come with Cross Buy since most people shouldn't have to pay 80-90$ for two games if they want it for home and on the go if they are the exact same game.
I haven't seen any Cross-Buy games that cost anywhere near $80, they're practically the same price a normal game would be.
You can easily check the sales of any FPS and tell that the US is the only place that really buys FPS while the rest of the world doesn't care.
Show me. Burden of proof and whatnot.
Just to put one stat out there CoD MW3 (the best selling game in the series) sold close to 9.5 million in the US, 4 million in the UK and only 140,000 in Japan.
So in other words, the tiny itsy bitsy UK bought as much as nearly a half of total CoD MW3 US sales? You're proving yourself wrong here. On the side note, there's also the rest of Europe to consider outside of the UK, y'know. ;)
Compare that to Monster Hunter Freedom 3 on PSP sold 440,000 in the US, 420,000 in the UK, and 4 million in Japan so it is pretty clear Japan loves them other genres over FPS.
Japan does. Europe not so much. You said only Americans play FPS games, which you yourself just disproved.
You've just said that Call of Duty MW3 sold 9.5 million in the U.S.A, 4 million in the UK and 140 thousand in Japan which equals 13.65 million copies in the countries we're talking about while Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (which I think you got wrong since Monster Hunter Portable 3rd was never officially localized, there's only Freedom 1, 2 and Unite but I'll roll with this for the sake of making a point) sold 440 thousand in the US. 420 thousand in the UK and 4 million in Japan, totalling at 4,86 million copies. According to your logic, you're the one who's bad at maths - Sony should be clinging to Call of Duty like clingfoil and totally ignore Monster Hunter. ;O;

Hey guys, I just came across this video:

And, I believe this guy's pretty right, but I gotta say, it's not doing too bad right now compared to the wii u

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

I think that guy has an annoying voice. I couldn't even get through two minutes of that video because of his utterly stupid voice.

That said, the Vita does need a price drop - in the system and in the memory cards. As it stands, it would cost me as much as a PS4 (though at this point I'd rather have the X1) for a handheld (and mandatory memory card :glare: ) , and that's way too much, and so do the games. There is not no way, no how that I ever intend on paying $50 for a handheld game, ever. And by the time that they should be seeing a price drop into more agreeable territory, they always go 'out of print', and scalpers start jacking the price up again unfairly.

As it is, about the ONLY game I would ever want for Vita is Katamari at this point in time.

If your local game store sells PSVita's for $399, I think they may be trying to scam you. :P

Does the fact that it's a handheld game make it any worse than a home console game? That, and $50 seems a bit much, all of the PSVita games I own were about $30, not to mention that I get most of my games from PSPlus.
And by the time that they should be seeing a price drop into more agreeable territory, they always go 'out of print', and scalpers start jacking the price up again unfairly.
...buy online?

Tastes in video games are subjective.

Vita katamari really isn't worth it, art style's kind of bastardized and the new mechanic is tedious and unenjoyable. The one game I've bought for the vita I didn't like. Other than that I've typically gotten my money's worth with stuff like Persona 4 and Little Big Planet, which are both great, console-quality games with an assload of gameplay.

And a price drop at this point is unlikely, as they're already probably taking a huge loss on each console. Couple that with lackluster sales on software and it's not a good move on Sony's part.
