You don't happen to have multiple partitions on your Hard drive do you? USB 1 would be the first partition, which may not be the main one. Are there any other options besided USB 1?

If you want to check your harddrives partitions, plug it in to your computer, click the start button, right-click on Computer, choose manage, then wait for the window to come up. Once it comes up, choose disk management in the sidebar, and wait for that to load, then find the letter for your hard drive in the bottom part. If that letter takes up the whole drive (like this) then you only have 1 partition. If there is another "part" to the drive (like this) then you have multiple partitions, and that is probably why wiiflow isn't working.

I checked, and yes, it shows my FAT32 Drive as "Active, primary partition". Doesn't show any other partition next to it.

FAT32 - store both GCN and Wii Games but larger the 4gb games are split into portions (4gb limit for files)
NTFS - store only wii games, doesnt need to split any large games. no file size limit.

I have WD hdd. I have a ntfs partition with wii games and i also have my encypted stuff with it. I usually dont play multiple games in one session, so i dont store many games on my drive.

but my point is - how many games do really care to play? do you like to hop around with each game or just focus on one? I used to use a 16 flash drive for my wii games ( i only played one) and i was fine. But if you like to play lots of games in one session a hdd is a good choice.

Yeah I see what you mean, we do tend to play the same 2 or 3 games out of our entire library, but will just get the hdd anyway.

By the way, in order to get custom tracks for Mario Kart on the Wii I understand I will need Riivolution. However, my original disc of the game is too scratched up. Will I still be able to use this using a backup from the hdd instead of having the original disc in the drive?

It's possible but, I'm not familiar with how. I'm pretty sure you can find someone here that can help ya with that though.

Ok, thanks, hopefully someone out there can help.

I do have an iso backup of Mario Kart (although that is one of the backup discs that isn't working on my Wii anymore) - so hence why I was looking to install custom tracks via hdd loading once I have got my new hdd.

I do know that it helps to be familiar with riivolution.

btw dont forget to use gbatemp's search and google, sometimes things around here are slow.

Hello, thanks for everyone's help before.

I have my HDD - NTFS format with backups as wbfs. They show up (and work) in CFG loader. But there is no cover art and file names show up as game_id (numbers/letters). Is there a way to fix this?

Also, would have liked to have use Wiiflow - but...
1. Is there a way to get it as a channel on wii's system menu?
2. At the present the games are not showing up at all in Wii Flow (even though they are showing up - albeit without images or correct titles in cfg usb loader)? How can I get the games to show up in WiiFlow?

Nevermind, got Wii flow to work now (it was loading USB 0 in one of the options, and therefore was only showing my channels from system menu) - changed it to USB 1 and tada - all my games now show up! and downloaded cover art no problem.

However never managed to get cfg loader to work properly (could load the games - but showed game_ID instead of game titles and no cover art also). Oh well, will just stick to Wiiflow (slightly longer to load up, but much more aesthetically pleasing GUI)!

By the way, how do I get rid of apps I don't want anymore (such as Neogamma and cfg loader)? tried deleting from HBC, but they are still showing up, do I need to put my sd card into pc and delete them off that way?

yep, use the pc.

So I managed to switch out my old blue wii (no GC playability) for a classic white one, but it turns out it has a parental lock. Is there a bypass for this with homebrew or some sort of konami code to force it to format?

everyone here stands by modmii. go and download. its a program that downloads all the necessary files for wii modificatiion and it also complies a guide to follow!

Would transferring things from my modded Wii to the Wii U mess up anything?

Example: I installed Sonic 4 Episode 1 on my modded Wii. Would I be able to transfer it even though I installed it from a wad? And if so, would it damage the Wii U in anyway?

It will only transfer games that you've purchased via the shopping channel, nothing else that you've installed otherwise.

People say ModMii is very good. Personally I don't like the interface that much but I have used it to mod two systems.

For a guide, I've used this tutorial for two of my Wiis and several friend's. I like it better. The only thing I do different is install DM instead of the "Gator burned GC wad" included in the packs.

Either way you do it, the most important thing is that you read and go slowly and always make a NAND backup.

Right, Ive modded the wii in question, its all good. ive installed usbloader gx, formatted a hard drive and using wii back up manager, Ive installed a load of games on it. I can see the hard drive on my pc when I open wii back up manager, I can see all the games on it, owever, when I plug the hdd into the wii and select usbloader GX, it freezes and sticks on 11 seconds. If i change usb ports on the wii, it counts down but eventually, it says hard drive not found or something similar. Help!! Any help with this will be very much appreciated

Ive sorted the 4.3 wii out. I have decided I want to bring my 4.1E uptodate. Whats my best option guys??? Which is the way forward for me?? Thanks in advance (as always), any help with this will be very much appreciated

Whether your 4.1 Wii is hacked or not, just do a full softmod and it will ensure that everything is current.
If you just update some IOSs or cIOSs, you may miss some that need/should be updated - it's better just to redo the whole thing if it was modded previously.
If it was modded before, you could always post a syscheck and people here can advise you whether or not any crucial updates are needed or not.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum and to wii homebrew!
I've been trying all day to run a backup GameCube game on the Wii following the instructions I've found on this and other websites but I'm not having any luck :(

I've installed from SD card:

- the HomeBrew Channel,
- dios-mios forwarder (version for USB games) v2.10 from the official website (also tried 2.2 from another website)
- wad manager 1.7
- hackmii/letterbomb
- d2x v10 beta53-alt (installed with parameters 56 - 249 - rev65535)

- usb loader gx v3.0 ios249
- wiiflow v4.1.3
- dios mios booter r30

My Wii is PAL running 4.3E.

The USB HDD is 500GB formatted to FAT32 with 32KB cluster size using EaseUS.

I've compressed the game ISO with discex 0.9 and put it on the HDD into /games folder.

- USB loader GX sees the HDD but not the game
- wiiflow sees the game but upon launching it, by invoking dios mios, i get "fatal error apploader size is zero"
- dios mios booter sees the game but gives the same "fatal error apploader size is zero"

Can anyone please help? I don't see what I'm doing wrong, I must be missing something here..
Thanks!!!
