GCN Bought a GameCube... Something not right

SOLUTION TO THE THREAD AND HORIZONTAL LINES!
DO NOT BUY THIS:

IT GENERATES TOO MUCH NOISE AND IS A HUGE NUISANCE.

I am unable to test the cube ATM, but upon shaking it I can hear rattling.
Power cables come tomorrow and I don't have a screw driver yet.

It feels extremely light, yet I see controller ports and what appears to be the mb.

Haven't felt a cube In a while, but this thing is only 3lbs!

I just tried to take out the screws-- but it seems like its bolted shut.
Anyone confirm if these are the stock screws?

Just weighed it... 2lbs :/

I'm hoping I can get a refund if there's something wrong with it.
I really only need the motherboard though, and its a DOL-101USA 12V

Is there anyway to tell without disassembling it?
I CAN see inside the gc controller ports and it does have power

Maybe sounds like screws or hinges....or bigger like plastic pieces or so??

If u have one of these u can get a lighter and burn the tip till it starts to melt.....then stick it in the screw socket.....it will meld into the groove of the screw then unscrew

DOL-101 are revision C cubes. Its going to be lighter than the earlier rev A/B models. Its most likely fine. Not as great as a rev A/B for portable building though...

Features were taken away.

REV A: DOL-001

GameCubes with both Digital AV output on and Serial Port 2 inside ::Status:: Still being sold in Europe and Korea (NTSC J), Sold out in Japan and both North and South America.
REV B: DOL-001

GameCubes with both Digital AV output on, but where the serial Port 2 had been removed ::Status:: Sold out worldwide but you can still get one in the usa if you exchange your DOL-101 (unmodded) GameCube to a DOL-001 version with Nintendo (for free).
REV C: DOL-101

GameCubes without Digital AV output and serial Port 2. ::Status: It's the current Retail version for worldwide except for PAL GameCube systems (EU + Australia) and Brazil.
I know it can help or interest some people to have that IPL Version guide and know more about those, however only Retail IPL Versions are mentioned here, don't look for details on the TDEV or NPDP GBOX IPLs while looking at that post.

Why would that be? As far as I'm concerned, it takes less power which means more play time, and it won't be as heavy.

Rev C's don't take "less power". The regulator is built into the mainboard however, which is another difference between A/B and C revisions. All of the stock GC regulators require at least 10-11v minimum to power on. Which limits you to higher voltage batteries which are in turn bulkier.

Rev A/B GameCubes are essentially the same exact thing on the motherboard level. Both revisions A/B can be cut down roughly to the size of an iPhone. The CPU and GPU can be powered by separate regulators (1.5v & 1.7v) on these boards which will net you a significant increase in battery life.

Rev C boards, while still fairly trimmable cannot be cut as small and cannot power the CPU/GPU separately because they are bridged internally on the mainboard.

If you're not worried about cutting things up really small though Rev C is fine.

Interesting... I knew rev 2 and 3 took the component port away, but not much else. What was the serial port for, though?
