Linux and video cards

From my experience with nVidia and Linux have always been hit and miss.

Really? Ok, then the 6770 would work probably. I have the 5670 and it doesn't have issues with linux too so I guess that's the case

AMD drivers under linux are kind of a mess. They have much better support with HD 4xxx and HD 5xxx.

Besides, a 7770 would be an overkill for linux since I won't do any gaming. Just movies and nice desktop effects

Tried a lot of them. Only the ones with GNOME 3 Shell are problematic. XFCE and GNOME 2 fly.

Yes, I'm currenly running it. Funny enough, the first I tried it, it was the worse distro. Super slow. This time, it's much better. Haven't had any major lags for now.

Yeah, Unity has improved over the time it's been out, but I love Cinnamon for my DE more.

I haven't had a problem ever with AMD cards on Linux however.

The only brand that actually does fine on Linux is Intel's HD Graphics xD

That's because Intel are the only ones who has fully open-sourced their graphics drivers under linux.
