It's probably because "Pikmin and Olimar" is plural.
I guess they'll add other characters eventually anyway, though

yea but at least should of had 1 or 2 because of the style difference between 3ds and WiiU versions

Villager and Wii Fit Trainer have no 3DS images either.

Wii Fit Trainer has already been confirmed to be WiiU only, so yes, there are console exclusive characters. While I doubt Olimar will be WiiU exclusive, I think the returning characters will be on both platforms.

Wii FIt Trainer doesn't have pics too, that doesn't mean she won't come to the 3DS version.

Where was that confirmed? I can remember Sakurai told that all characters will be the same. Only levels will differ.

Fundamentally we’re going to have the same characters on both systems. If there was a character you couldn’t play on Wii U but you could play on 3DS, or vice versa, that’s rough for consumers. So we want players to be able to have the same character experiences on both devices.

I think there are no 3DS screens yet because they have yet to implement them into the 3DS versions.
I doubt they would do things on both versions at the exact same time.

Yeah, not to mention that Sakurai did say there were troubles getting "characters-that-are-actually-several-characters" (Ice Climbers, per his example) working properly in the 3DS version. They're probably fixing Olimar up on the 3DS right now.
