What Pokemon game is he playing?
I don't think he can accidently update the 3DS if he only plays DS games on them, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'll clarify a bit im not worried about him directly updating through pokemon if thats even possible? but what ive done is restricted internet access with the parental controlls so he couldnt update accidently if a system msg pops up asking him too

He knows his way around the 3ds, how to download demos etc and has alot of 3ds carts thats why im worried about accidently updating

If you restricted internet access, then unless the 3DS has already downloaded an update, it will not update.

It will not update while in any DS game either. If he knows his way around the DS, just tell him to be careful on the system menu, and to click "NO" if the system asks him to update. You will be fine.

If you're worried still, invest in another flash cart that is still being updated, like the Supercard DSTwo or the R4i Gold 3DS, and make sure your system is at firmware 5.1.0-11 or less.

No hes 5..... you dont tell 5 year olds to be carefull it will just end badly... ill just hold off for a gateway instead of buying another nds flashcart because buying a supercard at this point seems a waist of cash, I think your mistaking me for one of these n00bs thats apparently on the internet

Dont think im gonna get an answer to my original question on here i've emailed Ace3ds myself ill post up an update when they get back to me

I'm not mistaking you for a noob, but how much time it takes - is how much time it takes. You need patience, and asking us isn't going to make the process faster. Ace3DS is working on a fix according to their site, and at least the cart is working for you. So don't worry about it. There are people out there who accidentally updated, and they can't do anything right now. Be grateful you can still play. I would have had every reason to mistake you for a noob though, since no one knows you around here and you only have 6 posts.

Keep checking the website - they will make an announcement when a fix is released, if one is released. Pray they don't run out of internal space in their card, and that it is still updatable.

If you can't talk to your child and warn them against updating, that isn't something I can help you with.

Not sure if you've seen the latest news, but Gateway is blocked on firmware 6, and the Gateway team is trying to fix that ASAP. So if your son updated, you wouldn't be able to use the Gateway either. You would also need to be there with him for the Gateway, because if he wants to play different games, you will have to swap the microSD card. Have you seen the video?

Just wait.

Also - trust me, getting a Supercard DSTwo is NOT a waste of your money - Supercard is still updating, they have a fix for version 6 firmware, and you can do so many other things like watch videos, emulate GBA games, emulate SNES for a few examples.

Well, considering that the Ace3DS is a cheap card, the Supercard DSTWO is not but has proven to be a worthy investment that has withstood the test of time thus far, AND the fact that the games that the Gateway 3DS runs will likely need to run on updated firmwares at some point, but that itself does not run DS roms (meaning if you need to update and support for the Ace3DS gets dropped, you're screwed anyway)... Why would anyone make that assumption?

Also, if you don't want him to update, turn wireless communications off and tell him not to move that switch, unless telling him not to do things is a bad idea in general, in which case nobody here is qualified to help you with that issue.

I can watch videos emulate snes and gba on my ace3ds and it only cost me like $4 :/?? The whole point of this thread was just asking for a lil info regarding some past events to see if the last time the card got blocked if it got a fix quite quickly or not or if anyone had a sure fire way to make sure my son dosent accidently update?

I wont be buying anymore flashcards untill they can support 3ds roms so stop trying to force a supercard down my throat, i researched most of the cards on the market and for what i need spending $4 was better than spending $40 and if i really wanted to emulate snes or gba that badly id do it on my tablet

Mods close this?

Before they do, I just have to say that I hope you're at least more welcoming of our suggestions when that Ace3DS breaks/something goes wrong, or you do decide to get that 3DS cart whenever it comes out. What Sicklyboy said about the wireless switch is exactly right. Also, no one's shoving supercards down your throat. We're here to help and are just telling you what the best option is, and why it's the best.

Also, in case you didn't understand, was that Sicklyboy basically said, flash carts get blocked with updates, and it's likely that support for Ace3DS will be dropped. No firmware upgrades would be released if it is unsupported. You will have a useless DS cart. Wanting to play 3DS games will force you to update. What will you do then?

So your choice was more cost effective for you. Good luck jailbreaking your tablet.
