Who said that it ''NEEDS'' to be in Ds mode?

One good thing: in 2 weeks from I hope we will celebrate Gateway 3DS. I cannot wait.

Every time Alerts tells me you posted in this thread, I immediately think "OH CRAP HE GOT THE GATEWAY." Stop disappointing me, Devin! So I had a few thoughts today.
What does the Gateway 3DS cart look like in the 3DS without a Micro SD card in it? Blank space, or the image of the last game played?
When does the 3DS check the 3DS Rom's integrity to make sure Nintendo's signature wasn't broken.
Is there a game that doesn't check the data on the cart for a period of time? (Like the PS2 exploit, where the disc stops spinning. So data isn't being read. Or even with the Gamecube where a game like Animal Crossing's so small it's loaded into memory and the disc doesn't even spin. You can take the disc out without it spewing an error.)
Can we hotswap Micro SD cards while the device is in the 3DS, without it freezing up. (Linked to the question above.)
Any of you know where I'm going with this? Pretty sure its been thought of, but figured I'd ask. Create a modified 3DS rom image, flash a stock rom image to a Micro SD card and the modified one to another one. Boot up the stock rom, get to the point where the game isn't reading data from the cart, and swap out the Micro SD cards.
Just a thought while out on the town, if any of you valid 3DS scene experts can shoot me down feel free to.
ROM data is encrypted. We don't even have public key to decrypt it, no one succeeded so far in ripping 3ds game resources.. What "modified 3DS rom image" are you talking about? And it won't read decrypted data as well, you need to re-encrypt it back (not possible without private key, which is never stored in 3ds itself).Create a modified 3DS rom image
Just noticed a bunch of new ROMs are out in the wild. I see a sudden surge in sales for Parrots and eye patches![]()

I don't claim to be a scene expert, and don't think I speak for everyone, but personally, I'd rather just wait until we have actual, first-hand information. Then we can speak factually, rather than engage in further pointless speculation. So I had a few thoughts today.

Your SD hotswapping idea may work if your goal is launching unmodified different region ROMs. It's definitely worth trying. Improper region genuine gamecard doesn't even shows as icon in menu.I'm figured 3DSGuy might have something up his sleeves, considering he was able to make a tool to edit 3DS roms to some extent. We'll just have to see.

We have about 2 more weeks until you get your review sample, Devin. At this stage, conjecture will just create false hope and unrealistic expectations in the average temper's mind. Especially if it's the scene experts making educated guesses.

1) Not yet.sorry is there a review from the GBAtemp yet? i heard you got a sample?

Keep your eye on the front page. I'm sure there'll be a news story about it when Devin gets it and/or reviews it. Gateway is supposed to be released at the end of the month, and they said they'd send out the review samples a few days before then, so we'll hopefully have a review by July 1st.sorry is there a review from the GBAtemp yet? i heard you got a sample?
Devin isn't reviewing it for the Temp. I think Another World will be doing the official Temp review.Keep your eye on the front page. I'm sure there'll be a news story about it when Devin gets it and/or reviews it.
