Well, I already have a gaming PC, and I'm not interested in any PS4/NextBox exclusives.
I really got interested in it knowing that they'll announce big titles in E3

I personally like Nintendo 1st party titles. Wii U and 3DS for Nintendo exclusives and PC for the rest. I think it would be a nice combination.

That's the combination I have...or should I say use. I have a 360 and PS3 but I haven't played either one since December. I play my retro consoles and 3DS more than I play my PS3 or 360. If I can get the same title on PC as PS3 and 360 I always go for PC. After getting the Wii U and playing on my PC I can't really stand to even look at games on the PS3 and 360 anymore.

Anyways, It's a good combination to have and the only one I plan on using for at least the first half of the 8th generation unless there's an Uncharted game I'll want to play. I'm not sure that's even gonna be enough to justify buying a new PS4 for the first few years it's out.

Funny you omit the Xbox360.

What good games does PS have?

Killzone? < Halo.

Resistance? < Gears of War.

Gran Turismo? With it's outdated physics and inferior graphics, < Forza.

Uncharted? Just a knock-off of < Tomb Raider, except with overly cinematic (cutscenes) and a plethora of cheap quicktime events.
Sly Cooper/Jak and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank? (Near carbon copies/synonymous platforming gameplay) Obviously people enjoy these games, so I can't leave them out, and Xbox has no surrogate for them on it's platform.

God of War? (Better brace myself even more) Shallow level-based gaming with little 'world interaction', boring repetitious hack-n-slash gameplay also loaded with cheap quicktime events. < Fable has much more content, is more interesting and time consuming.

Infamous?

The Last of Us looks amazing, but we can't count an unreleased game. Then there's LocoRoco, One Piece (PirateWarriors), Yakuza, Heavy Rain, Wipeout, SOCOM, Little Big Planet, Patapon, PS All Stars, ModNation Racers, etc (not the blockbusters) vs Magna Carta 2, Naruto (RiseofNinja+BrokenBond), Banjo Kazooie, Crackdown, Viva Pinata (YES), Ninety Nine Nights, Fusion Frenzy, Project Gothan Racing, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, Infinite Undiscovery, and all the Kinect games (don't judge me), etc. It also got many firsts of game series exclusively, such as Dead Rising, Saints Row, etc.

Those are all off the top of my head, but I just searched up this list, which I should have done prior to typing all that out.

The Xbox 360 really has more notable exclusives than the PS3, and if we follow rule of precedent, it should be similar with the next Xbox. It's not even a case of quality vs quantity. All titles are relatively quality... maybe even more towards the Xbox 360, which would explain the doubled software attachment rate in contrast to the competition.

Edit; this list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_(seventh_generation)
You forget everything on PSN, and quite possibly the greatest pieces of art in gaming in the last 5 years, Journey and Flower, which, from what I've played and watched, basically trumps everything in terms of sheer artistic vision and meaning. I mean, sure, that's no reason for picking the PS3 over the X360, but just throwing it out there.

there's really only ONE question you need to answer:

do you want to play zelda? than get a wiiu!
I'm sorry, but this is just really sad. It's almost as if you're making it seem like Zelda is the main reason to play the WiiU. You sound like those old ladies that got the Wii for Wii Sports and to entertain their kids with Mario Kart, and then just leave it on the shelf to rot. For chrissake, that's not worth spending that much money on. I'd wait until the WiiU has some semblance of a wide game library and the price drops till you buy it.

And you've forgotten everything on XBLA. Journey and Flower are great, extremely short experiences. It's a step in the right direction to establish the video game medium into an art form, and not just an entertainment form (art = outlet of expression/entertainment = enter-containment for sake of monetary profit). But XBLA really has a wider, more quality selection of indie games, and this really isn't a secret.

Still, to expand on the art vs entertainment argument, Journey and Flower are of the few games I would label as art this generation. They weren't specifically made and catered in mind to the consumer in order to make millions, and so it's art. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So when you're making it for yourself, it's art. When you're making it for everybody else, it's entertainment.

This is why almost no mainstream media (I'm no hipster, just a critical analyst) is truly art.

I'm probably gonna buy a WiiU when the next Zelda game comes out anyway... I won't lie.

thats my opinion
xbox games don´t attract me too much.
Oh definitely, and that was my opinion too. The only way to judge which entertainment is better is it's appeal. Because, as I've stated, the sake of entertainment is to cater to as many people as possible. So, technically, the greatest selling games are the best forms of entertainment (I know! COD, but still...). That means prominent Nintendo IPs, Xbox IPs, then Sony IPs. Look at the whole Uncharted series, and how unconsolidated it's only sold just over 10 million copies (which is great, but) while a single MarioKart and Halo game will sell over 20 million copies individually.

Then again, this is all my opinion.

Just sayin. I wasn't saying it was any reason to get a PS3 over an X360, in fact I clearly pointed that out. "I mean, sure, that's no reason for picking the PS3 over the X360, but just throwing it out there." - Me. I'm well aware of XBLA's large game selection. But, in my opinion, I say that Journey and Flower trump basically anything in the XBLA at the moment.

And I vehemently disagree with the concept that no mainstream media is art. Television, which is a platform that thrives on good ratings, is a good way of contradicting that. Something can be made for the sake of both art and entertainment. I'm fairly certain that George Lucas made the first Star Wars movie with both making hell of a space story and making a lot of money in mind. But I digress, I really don't want to turn this into an argument lest we hijack this thread completely.

Yeah, I completely agree.

But now I completely disagree. How many truly artistic TV shows exist that aren't at all influenced by the fanbase? They just showed the mother on How I Met Your Mother. That didn't corroborate with the original 'artistic' direction. George Lucas actively changed his ART into things he enjoyed, but the fanbase hated. He was constantly remastering CGI, sound and effects throught he decades, which he got flack for "editing with a masterpiece", yet he still did it because it was his expression, and he wanted to perfect his expression.

Mainstream media is specifically catered to the zeitgeist of the epoch. Look at how Ke$ha made Die Young, then tweeted about being "forced" to make the song, and crying about it. Record labels take intelligent individuals and market them. That's it. You always hear how the artistic integrity of artists are being challenged by record labels. You always hear how the artistic integrity of directors are being challenged by studios. It will never end, because they solely seek profit. Entertainment.

But the subject has strayed, so I'll stop.

Lol if you think any of this is remotely accurate then you really haven't played Uncharted, Sly, Jak, or Ratchet.

Yeah, I completely agree.

Oh my god you didn't just use "artistic TV shows" and "How I Met Your Mother" in the same sentence did you?
Also Lucas got flak for editing things so that they were just shit. Like the "Han shot first" thing. It was a subtle but great way of characterizing Solo. It showed he wasn't a great guy, that he was a cold blooded killer, a shoot first ask questions later type of guy. Plus the edit was terrible. Most of Lucas's edits were just terrible in fact, they look odd, sound odd, and don't vibe with the rest of the movie.

For the filthy fukkin pirate emu lover that I am, the Wii U was a fantastic purchase! I seriously spend more time (at the moment!) playing Wii mode and loving the emu's, whilst my old Wii is now pride of place under my bedroom telly doing the same thing. Plus while I've now had my fill of NSMBU & Nintendo Land (fun games by the way), there's some great stuff on the way, starting with Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 in a couple of months, and decent looking side orders New Super Luigi & Made in Wario.

Now's probably a good time to buy if you're after a do on NSMB, plenty time to play through all that, plus multiplayer laffs on Nin Land before the biggies arrive. Like has been said, yeah splash that cash!

I have had a 360 for a year and a half and I have definitely played my Wii U more in the 3 months I have had it then I have played the 360 since I got it.

I am pissed I got a 360 instead of a PS3, but the my kid wanted it because of minecraft (and I thought the kinect might be good but it kind of sucks and no one wants to play it). Is the new PS4 going to play PS3 games? If so I will probably get that if it's not too expensive or else maybe I will get a PS3 since they should be getting even cheaper.

i would say it's worth to buy the wii u. i bought it a few days after its launch date and i do not regret it.
it's a nice console and i think there will be many nice games in future. and many nice virtual console games can be downloaded now. today i downloaded super metroid for only 30 cents (special offer).
but if you want to wait untill more well looking games have been released and the console's price has decreased, you surely can do that aswell. it'll take some more weeks for Pikmin 3 to be in stores.
but the next E3 is soon. you could take a look at next E3 conference to decide better if it's worth for you buying this console or not

Damn Sony, they been screwing this up since PS2.

Nintendo is the best for backwards compatibility. If it wasn't for that I never would have played some great GBA and gamecube games since I never owned either system.

Wii U gamepad off TV play is an awesome feature unless you are single and have your own plac or play exclusively in your own room. I have not gotten though the games I have and I know more great games are coming. Get it now while Super Metroid is still 30 cents.

The more wiiu's sold, the more enticing a system it becomes for third parties. You know nintendo games you want are coming so why not get the system now to help everyone else out?

As for better reasons: HD scaled classic gaming via the virtual console (if you transfer your wii content to wiiu, all those games you bought get heavily discounted), First party offerings on the horizon, more nintendo coins for club nintendo stuff, Deluxe version has a "10% of your eshop purchases are given back so you can buy more online content, unique control scheme compared to pc and competition to allow choice when buying multi-platform games.

The games I own that I am enjoying are: warriors orochi 3 hyper(got for 30 bucks new and eb/gamestop) nintendoland, and zombie U. I also played lego city undercover which I can't wait to buy and playing classic games on the tablet while I watch tv or just lay in bed with the tv off is spiffy as well.

Since I think I won't be able to buy it before E3, seeing what games are going to be announced for it is gonna make buy it now or wait a little more.

But I'm really looking forward buying it.

I would love to buy it because I always bought nintendo consoles and portable (just game boy black and white so far, lol)

Now, I back off since Wii had 3rd party problem. I bought Wii for first party like Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Klonoa remake and Zelda games. I know about first party like new Mario and new Zelda, oh boy. So, I am waiting a little longer for 3rd party supporting. I don't know yet. I want to be wise and not spending my money this time.. For now.

The system will be definitely successful.

Nintendo has to perform good marketing and has to convince some developers. But all in all it's a pretty nice system.
With the right games, the WiiU will be as successful as the Wii.
People are still buying the Wii although the WiiU has the same capabilities (most of them are thinking that the UPad is only an enhancement of the Wii)

I will buy the WiiU if enough games are ready (Pikmin3, Mario Kart, Smash Brothers etc.)

Yes, it is worth it. I bought mine on launch. All my friends that I have shown it to this it is cool and love the way the gamepad works. It makes it more personal. One of them said he likes the idea of off tv play so when his wife is watching tv he can still play. I like the comfort of the gamepad, a lot less hand cramping than on my Xbox. Not Tonz of games yet but the ones that are there are pretty good quality with long playability. I also like the Nintendo TVii that is built into the system, I love the online tv interaction with the shows I watch. In the end only you can make the decision, look at the options, the games, the apps and see if they are good enough for you to spend the money. I suggest the 32mb version and get a terabyte drive. I play it more than my Xbox anymore.
