Sonic is the third real classic game on 3D Classics, the other ones are just old games in 3D.

It's honestly about time that a 16-bit game actually be available on the 3DS eShop, even if it's a port rather than virtual console.

Sonic already has all of the layers and stuff, I think it'll work great as a 3D classic.

Precisely. Mega Drive games that are loaded with parallax (pretty normal for the platform) should look stunning in stereo 3D, something you can't say as much for platforms like NES/SNES/PCE, all of which had either very little or none, as a rule.

If you don't want to play it, don't buy it, it's not like you need to.
For me, and for a lot of people who didn't have enough time or possibility to play it, this is just fantastic.
Considering Sega did fine with the Game-Gear emulator this 3D classic may be really good.
