Gaming Devil Survivor 2: Break Record

Ahh, another Devil Survivor port? I see this is becoming a trend. Great.

I'd much rather get a new Shin Megami Tensei, so far all I'm seeing is ports and while I can understand Soul Hackers which was never released in the west, another Devil Survivor is just stretching it - the game was recently released for the DS, what's the point?

Because they can? And because they'll add more crap to it. DS2 came out while the 3DS was still kind of in it's infancy, and wasn't as widely supported. Same thing they did with DS1. Used DS1 to test the waters and see what they could do with it. I'd be surprised if they don't make DS3 a 3DS game that wouldn't need to Overclocked/Breakrecord update.

DS games cards can only hold so much, guys.

Crap being the keyword - it was a quick port with some additional content, and in some cases it was buggy to the point of being unplayable.

Okay, maybe the European version was crap. But it was 100% playable over here in the US. And Japan. Dunno what they did to the EU version, but that's not reflecting the game as a whole. And a "quick port with some additional content"? Try a reworked mechanic system, most of the updates and upgrades that DS2 had, a whole new day, very enhanced graphics and areas. Iirc, had a shitton of new voiced lines, too. And difficulties.

That's not what a "quick port" is.

So it's just one additional day then. Don't make it sound like it's more than it actually is.
Not some, everyone had these problems.
Everyone in Europe, yes. ;)

Are you just trolling me? There are 7 origiinal days. This added a full 8th day. With three different versions of it, at least. That's a whole new EIGHTH of a game.

And everyone in europe != everyone. Knock it off.

Let me make this clear for you.

Studios have higher resolution versions of their original art and pixel art by definition - they keep that kind of stuff in case they need to upscale/rework something - it's not something weird.

Adding DS2 mechanics to DS1 is a matter of copy-pasting code (and doing so poorly considering the fact that one region got an unplayable version of the game) from the other game - they're both running on the same engine.

At the end of the day, you get a whole new "EIGHT" of a game for the price of a "WHOLE NEW GAME". You knock it off.

Oh crap. Forgot to quote your reply to Gamerz regarding the solution to the DS counterpart's non-release in Europe. Sure I could get the NA ver. But American English is just.... I dunno. I really should get some sleep O__O
I see what you meant now. Well, American English > Japanese when you don't know any Japanese - to me it's always been same difference as long as I can follow the plot.

Considering Europe never officially got the original Devil Survivor, I don't see how anyone can complain about the new content in Overclocked. It's still four new Eighth Day scenarios as well as voice acting, new skills, new demons and a few gameplay features from Devil Survivor 2.

As far as I can tell, Break Record is going even further than that with a whole new second game. You can complain all you like about the Devil Survivor ports but the fact remains Japan got their Overclocked two years ago. So, for them, it's been two years since the last new Devil Survivor game came out and the recent anime adaptation has obviously given them enough reason to make sure a game is released to accompany it.

I wouldn't worry too much, anyway, since we'll be lucky to get it before the first half of 2015. By then Devil Survivor 3, which they're guaranteed to be working on, will be out. Besides, isn't Shin Megami Tensei IV coming out this year?

I had made a thread about this game in the news section a month or two ago. .-.

Anyway, I'm hopping this game gets brought over to Europe faster than overclocked... Also, this one isn't a simple port like the first one, but it appears to be an actual remake... I wonder that they'll add besides the new character and new day. z.z
