You guys struggle with the concept of free refills and putting ice in drinks.

Free refills I will give you though I get looked at oddly whenever I appear stateside (one for the queue, one for walking to the table, one for the meal, one for the waiting for everybody else to finish their meal, one for the road, possibly another for the road and another to walk out with, if they have multiple flavours of things I am interested in then all bets are off) but ice in simple soft drinks* always strikes me as odd- it comes out practically at freezing and will not last long enough to get above 10 degrees C so what is the problem unless you enjoy chewing on ice? A few places here are catching onto the idea of refills though (mainly American shops that come over mind you) so it could be good.

*beer on the other hand. I think I will dismiss it as, microbrews aside, what passes for US domestic beer is all pisswater anyway.

Back on topic I am surprised Russia got in on that list.

Drink with ice: +colder, -volume, -goes flat quicker, -watered down taste. Drink without ice: +fizzier, +keeps its taste, +volume, -warmer. Don't mind a bit of ice in my drink but fast food restaurants go overboard.

(For me, anyway - consistent cool temperature, the extra heft, the sound of the ice, etc. all add to the drinking experience. It's hard to put into words, exactly, but it just "feels" better. Sure, you might technically get less beverage, but that's what free refills are for.)

The consistent thing we already covered. Now I am the first person to jump up and shout about latent heat and how people do not understand it but by itself water has a decent thermal capacity and by design you use expanded polystyrene cups.
Ice is less dense than water (hence it floats) so heft is all in your head (sadly the only time heft is all in your head) and that rather damages your being rational/man of science persona.
Sound.... I am also heathen enough to not use a straw so that is probably a different thing. Failing that if the Japanese can have a device to imitate the sound of a toilet flushing.

Yes, Fire Emblem pre-installed does count towards this promotion, I purchased MH3U a couple of days ago, so Luigi's Mansion 2 will give me a free game.

Well... in my country they serve drinks with ice and it sucks. The ice gets in the way if you drink without a straw and if the ice melts you end up with a watered drink

You're talking to two people from Europe, the concept of free refills doesn't exist here.

A shame they aren't doing something like this for America. I have my Fire Emblem 3DS with the pre-installed game, and I bought MH3U just the other day. I was planning on picking up DKCR next month, and getting free Animal Crossing out of it would have made that purchase certain. Oh well. Maybe they'll bring this promotion to America before long as well. If not, I probably won't waste my time registering these codes.
