Not much else to say but if there are SD Card or USB Flash Drive (and to a lesser extent Micro SD) adapters for iPod Touch 4G. I know there was that "Zoomit SD Card Adapter" but that is seemingly unable to find and possibly discontinued.

Zoomit is slow and maybe no longer in production.
i prefer Airstash, also uses SD card for storage, it creates its own wireless network that you can connect via wifi. you can move or copy files, and stream music or movies.

CCK can only copy/import photos or videos, unless your idevice is jailbroken.

But that requires (or at least I think it does) it being plugged into a Laptop/Computer, and if I have one of those around what's the point?

zoomit needs to be plugged into your idevice accessory port but not into your pc.
cck is also plugged into the port to transfer photos from sd card or hookup a digital camera connected to a usb cable to transfer files.
Airstash is wireless. check it @ Airstash.com.
Wirelessly stream music or videos, or copy/transfer files. it creates its own wifi network.
You only plug it into your pc (not in your idevice), for battery charging, for firmware updates or
use it as a regular usb flashdrive.

Well okay. Just a few questions...
Is there any file process (moving, copying, document reading, ect.) that HAS to be done on Computer, not iPod Touch?
Does it stream well from a SD Card?
Can I use a USB-SD Card adapter (USB Flash Drive --> SD Card --> SD Card Slot) or Micro SD to SD Card to stream video and will it work well?

no computer needed if you're connected through its own wifi.get the app if you have the hardware.
stream videos or music like it's on your idevice.
'never tried a usb adapter. airstash has a sd card slot for your files.

A usb adapter doesn't exist, and if it did, I doubt Apple would even support that kind of feature.
Androud does have this, its called an OTG cable, and you'd need a rooted device.

If you're looking for more local storage though, I think those "new" wirreless harddrives are iOS and android capable.

Like i said ^ there, Airstash is a wireless storage.
works on iOS or android device.
but we're talking about iOS (ipod touch) here though & not android.
i think the OP wants to know if an SD to USB adapter would work on airstash.
i dont have or if there's one so i don't know. Airstash has SD port.

Camera connection kit for the ipad works as a usb adapter.
with a jailbroken ipad, you can can plug a usb flashdrive [that doesn't consume too much power] in CCK
and do what you want with your files using iFile. ipad only though.

same thing if an SD card is inserted in CCK SD adapter, access files and more storage.
the Cydia app CameraConnector for iphone/ipod touch, accept usb devices using CCK but currently usb flashdrive doesn't work.

It does and they do.

Apple's Camera Connection Kit provides both an SD adapter and a USB adapter for the iPad range, not sure if they work on anything else. you can copy files from an SD card or USB flash drive, as well as use some peripherals such as a USB keyboard.
I currently use one for my modified SNES joypad, allowing me to play any iCade compatible game with a wires joypad.
