Hi Guys

Thanks I knew this was the place to ask the question since the kids soft wii is doing a great job.

My son found my old ps2 - a old grey ps2 scph-50003.

I only want to get disc backups onto it as he is only after racing games, so pointless me buying up collections to find games.

Here is what i wanted to double check - i read some of the guides but still unsure

I only want to softmod it for backups - so will be using discs games - same as the wii I guess - i use discs only.

I need a card 8mb and a usb stick - no problems

but what are these discs everyone talks about (AR or codebreak) - do i make them and burn them as discs, cheat disc backups etc.

Basically just need the cheapest way to do it and i have two items the usb stick and ps2 8mb card

how do i make a disc or have I got this all wrong.

I guess the guides are throwing me off a little or i have read too many guides and confused myself.

Any help will do for the wee man

Just glad the ps2 will get used if it works - dont have the heart to get rid of it.

Theres a guy on here you can send a memory card to, its the only way unless you wanna buy disc magic.

does that mean the guides are no use as I thought the guides was a home guide. OR the guides assumes you already have these 'discs'

the mem card route is it a UK guy? As was thinking that would be my final last hope choice as was hoping like to try myself

you also need magicswap.elf (hard to find) and an original high capacity ps2 game on the same media type than the game you want to play (original ps2 cd game to boot ps2 cd back-ups and the same for dvd games)

HI M

bit confused now

so if I get the mem card by post from a helper and that turns up - I plug that in

a iso burnt disc wont work - I need more stuff mentioned above

is there guides on above to explain what the above means

hopefully shows me what to do. That will help me a lot to figure out what I need to do.

I have totally confused myself by reading too much.

I should now redo my question as

easiest way to get my old ps2 to work - just 1 method and where is the link guide on here. I can read that in full and come back here to finalise what I need.

M - I am going to check the latest update on the post service and see what comes from members who heve sorting out your mem card

loading backups with the swap magic disc:
1. boot your ps2 with swap magic disc
2. swap with your back-up ( google: ps2 slide card trick)
3. press x

loading backups with freemcboot + ESR:
1. patch your iso with ESR patcher
2. put in your disc and boot your ps2 with esr loader
(esr loader is included in freemcboot noobie package)

loading backups with freemcboot + swapmagic.elf:
1. boot your ps2 with an original ps2 game in it but force it to boot in swapmagic.elf (bit of config but easy)
2. swap with your back-up ( google: ps2 slide card trick)
3. press x
(swapmagic.elf is a copyrighted file and is not "easily" available)

also, if you have the network adapter, you could also use a hdd.

thanks M

looks like ruote two seems ok

i guess it reads as this

put the mem card into ps2, start it up with your iso game and then do you choose the loading with esr which you would find on the system and mem card.

just like loading a soft wii neroloader.

but my isos need to be patched. i need to read the guide on patch.

is this about right
