Applicants wanted for a one way trip to Mars. I've already made inquires into this through my special connections with one exception. They'd have to pay my family some money and then I'd leave.
Then I can say 'Fuck you' to all you losers on the temp.

Note on the article where it says "applicants must work well in a team". 99% of you here can't work in a team because you have tight assholes.

Maybe I'll get to see a man in Mars in my lifetime after all.

I read that and it's not worth it especially since there is a flight there scheduled in 2018 with return, people who wish to go should wait until 2018 when they have a chance to return to Earth after the mission's over.

No Internet on Mars? Nope, not interested.

(I understand that even if there was Internet, it would have horrible lag because of like a 14 minute ping time even if you do get good bandwidth once it FINALLY responds ... still not worth it, though.)

Wait wait wait. We can have a backup datacenter for the Earth internet on Mars Internet. All Earth Internet is backed up daily in Mars so all Martians would get no lag time but one day delay on everything. How does that sound?
And if Earth Internet fails we got a backup copy on Mars.

Fool-proof plan you've got there!

Yeah, actually, Google's constantly checking on everything on the internet anyway, right?
And if this thing's gonna be funded as a large scale reality show thing They've gotta have a reasonable speed connection going back the other way. Even if it takes a while for it to respond to a network request, it could be sent with some error checking info to know what didn't make it and needs to be re downloaded ... sounds workable-ish.

Do you ever wonder why a lot of people don't like you?

Have you ever asked that question to yourself in the mirror? Self, do I have a tight asshole?

ITT (ITT means Institute of Technology by the way)

I'd sign up to see this even if my ship doesn't make it and it explodes in space.

Shit, if I could choose the perfect group of friends to take with me I'd do it in a heartbeat. Mars >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Earth ;O;

But yeah, this sounds like one of those things that just won't happen.

You're thinking latency, not bandwidth.
Well you'd have to send the click to the server to request the page (3-20 minutes there).
Then you'd have to wait for the signal to come back (3-20 minutes back).

Edit: Unless you pre-load some hyperlinks on the page you're on as Chrome does of course.

True, but it still slows you down.
Well actually it could be anywhere between about 6 and 40 minutes depending on the relative positions.
And what's worse is you loose the connection completely for a few days when the Earth's behind the freaking sun. :glare:
