curious, how do you tell there's going to be one again?

and how would you see a difference or not without updating ... since it's not out quite yet? (edit : okay, my bad.)

I can't find a changelog anywhere ... or ANY info for that matter (haven't looked all that hard though.) EDIT2 : okay, well, Wikipedia has a BLANK entry on it at least.

I can't enter eShop here because it says a new system update is available. I didn't try though, since I own a flashcard.
It might very well be just a fix to avoid some consoles refusing to launch System Settings and the eShop (I read about it on the Nintendo forums).

From what I have read, it's an update to fix the problems from the last update, i.e people that updated before and lost access to system settings, and eShop.
I'm curious though. If one lost access to both the eShop and System Settings, how would they update to this new firmware?

On my 3DS, the update happened over SpotPass and was completed instantly. I think it would probably be a forced update from the last one.
Ah, so the automatic downloads still work. Does that mean anyone who has the bug and turned off automatic updates is boned?

as of 5.0.0-11 they can now push anything to your 3DS via spotpass, be that apps or updates
first time i noticed they could do this was yesterday with some apps on a J region 3ds

I don't like automatic updates, what if my power goes out at the same time?
They'd have to make updates dead minimal thus ruining the point of an update.

I prefer to control when my system updates or not.
Always a risk with updating no matter how official it is.

there more than likely is a check to make sure the console is charging in the cradle & at full battry

I don't think legally they can update the actual firmware without your consent.
(Don't hold me to that but its something that no big console company has done)
