I recently went back to Sonic Generations and a game I thought I enjoyed was suddenly actually a bit of a mess...but whatever. Some modders thought it would be a good idea to do a total conversion mod for that particular game, to me it would be more worthwhile to port say a GOOD Sonic game (and the Sonic levels were mediocre in that game) to a GOOD Sonic engine but that's me...I moan.

Here's a look at what they've done so far.

It's just the day levels and no Warehog levels of course, I mean they haven't got THAT much time to waste. I'll probably skip this, I'm not into these "Sonic Runner" kind of games, I liked it when Sonic...you know...did some platforming.

You know I'm sorry, but those fast as hell Sonic levels, not that fun.

You mean the ones where you got at an unknowable speed until you hit a random, unavoidable spike trap?

But that's classic Sonic platforming!

It's not Sonic if you can't control it!

I swear, the Sonic fanbase is like a battered housewife that just keeps coming back. When you try to help, they make excuses - He didn't hit me, I just fell down the stairs! The games aren't bad, they're just misunderstood!

Get help, Sonic fans. You're stronger than this.

Maybe they're into sadomasochism? They get a kick from the pain and humiliation.

They must be into some form of kinky fetish, how else can they enjoy the horrible Sonic Adventure games?

HOW DARE YOU SONIC ADVENTURE BATTLE 2 WAS MY CHILDHOOD GLUB GLUB GLUB.

I feel fortunate that I never played that because everyone just goes "NOSTALGIA" and now claims it's a great game. It wasn't, you were just too dumb back then to realize it's a bad game.

I never got to play Unleashed before (well except the bland Wii version) so I gave this mod a try. From footage I saw before I can easily see why people would hate the werehog at least. The day stages on the other hand I'm enjoying so far. The level design doesn't feel as fleshed out as Colors and Generations, but they're still fun from what I've played thus far. Though my computer I can tell is starting to need upgrading, these levels seem to be much more demanding and lag inducing than the original Generations levels (I think it's my CPU).

The new games still have their problems for sure, but I think the day stages have all been steps in the right direction and I honestly think they're very fun. And while I definitely enjoyed the Sonic Adventure games when they first came out, in retrospect they've aged horribly and it's hard to see how I ever looked past many of their faults.

what a waste of a mod! sun is the 2nd worst sonic (blacknight taking number 1) ever made!
You sure '06 shouldn't be up there? Or the GBA port of Sonic 1?

Eh. I'm the odd one out. I like the OMGRUNNINGINTOWALLSCANTSEEANYTHING boost levels. They can be kinda fun. But... I'm gonna be an old nostalgia-ridden gamer that will say, "Classic Sonic is the best Sonic."

As much as Sonic Adventure and SA2 were part of my childhood, I only really remember the headaches they've caused me, and my aimless wandering around with Knuckles as I look for Emerald Shards in SA2.... I do like some of the music in both games, though. Actually, I've always thought that all of the composers for the Sonic games did really well, I don't know a theme that I really don't like.

As for the Unleashed project, I think it looks great. Too bad my graphics card has issues with Sonic Generations.

Despite being a huge fan of the original Sonic games, I actually really enjoyed Generations for its own merits and in turn enjoyed firing through this mod. I wouldn't go through it again as the stages aren't all that interesting but its worth a go if anyone wanted a little more out of their copy of Generations on Steam.
