As the title says, I can physically see my PS Vita under Windows Explorer. Would this possibly be anything useful if given to someone who is working on hacking the Vita??? I cannot do anything other than right-click on the icon and select "Properties", which leads me to the attached image.

Thanks. Just making sure, as this is the first time it happened, and I have another Vita with 2.06. I thought that the 2.06 firmware may have modified the usb driver that CMA uses to make the Vita "visible". I'd rather make a somewhat-useless thread and get a no, instead of not making the thread and not provide something that possibly could be of use. You understand what I'm saying, right???

Maybe not for hacking purposes. But this is actually kind of interesting. Didn't know it was possible.

oddly when you install psm sdk it installs ps vita drivers so doing the 1+1=? why would the psm need drivers if cma does not use them to connect to the vita and there again why can you see the vita under my computer if there is really no use to it that we (the consumer) would know about? *Sniffs* Somethings fishey here.. so far we have drivers that install with sdk, when cma doesnt use drivers to connect to the vita. Vita showing up under my computer when theres no use for it to even be there other to know its connected but cma does that itself... these facts just dont add up ...

I would suggest you to remove the Pic because it contains your PS Vita's serial number and any person can use that to unban their console.
In other words if someone use that ID will get your consoles banned. :)

How? The PSVita hasn't been hacked yet, how would you even get banned if you can't cheat or pirate? The serial is, for the most part, useless. ;)

TOO LATE!!! I ordered China to start churning out vitas by the millions all with that same serial number! mwahhahahaha.. lol anyway, yeah this is just an "after effect" of windows drivers. I wish I could back up my games by drag and drop instead of the stupid content manager crapware.

The ID can be used on any PS console :/ (I think)
And the console might be even hacked tomorrow so you never know :/

Even if it would be (which it won't), we have no way of injecting that ID into the system. It took several years to hack the PS3 to that point - I think his PSVita is safe and there's no hurry. :P The only reason why someone would want that serial now is to participate in one of those "enter your Serial and Sony will give you $20 on PSN!" promotions, but I do see your point - in 5 years time, this screenshot could potentially be used in a malicious fashion. :P

True. :P
But you never know :/ SKFU has a native exploit and can release it any time he wants :P
Still it will take some time to hack the IDs though xD
