I've been able to convert my parents to using FireFox, but damn, if only I can convert them to Windows 7 for their computer (which is better than mine and they got it for free), but no, they said Vista is good enough.

My dad actually said last night after I told him I have Windows 7 downloaded:

"I spoke to a guy at work today, he said if it's a pirated copy, it'll crash the computer because of updates". But it isn't a pirated copy.. well, sorta. It's the Windows 7 Repository thing, I've had it on my computer for like a year and a half now, and always update.

It won't automatically install the new version until the old version's all bloated up? That's no good!

That's like buying all the useless Sims 2 expansion packs, only to go out and get Sims 3 right afterward!

I've heard of Windows waving a "shame on you" finger at naughty pirates and refusing to function properly until they buy it, but I've never heard of it outright crashing! :P

Yeah except the one I downloaded, it actually acts as legit, Microsoft has no way of knowing, that's the thing. But then again, I've never gotten any warning or anything, and I update my computer all the time.

Wow! I imagine that's quite a luxury to anyone who's ever been nagged at by Windows XP's "Genuine Advantage" alerts from the times of old. :P

If you're sure it won't give any problems you can always tell them it's legit and you got it for free via school/college/whatever.

Well I've hidden IE9 updates log ago, and I'm never prompted to download an update for it.
So I guess IE10 won't make his way on my Windows 7 machine.

On the other hand....my system runs in dual boot with Windows 8 and I have IE10 on that LOL......
It's not as bad as it used to be, when it comes to full page/metro integrated web browser I guess it's the best there is ...yet.
And it's nice to use it to read full screen news every once in a while.

But for everything else, I click on the desktop and keep using my default browser Firefox :P !

They're happy with what they've got? What does it matter to you?

Because they bitch at me to deal with their computer and fix it and shit and ask me all these dumb questions that only vista deals with. That's why it matters. I don't want to deal with that shit.
