Ummm... I think it's a bit early for us to discuss the next gen and I don't think we want it to end soon, not all of us want to fork out over $200 again so soon. Besides, why would we want to live past out current present? I mean, we can only live in the present once, so why waste it and think of the future that someday we will live in? Just enjoy life and relax >.< As for what you wrote, the 3DS was out in 2011, not 2010.

Anywaaaay, I guess I would like:
Better online
4D? (Okay, it's a joke but it wouldn't be bad XD)
Better online services (Nintendo Network Plus, anyone?)
Better battery
Better pricing for retail digital downloads
Games don't exceed $40/30GBP (A man can dream)

I would like to see more focus on games and less focus on having the best hardware in town.
When have Nintendo handhelds EVER had the best hardware in town?

Seriously, I don't think there's ever been a single Nintendo handheld that wasn't outdone by a current-gen competitor, specs-wise.

This statement was more directed at everyone in the gaming world. It seems like nowadays everyone focuses on the specs of the system instead of the games the system provides.

Ah. I see.

Though in all fairness, more power DOES equal more potential for games. A game with aesthetic charm like Zelda: Wind Waker would've never been possible on the N64, for example.

More power can mean more games, but it doesn't mean the games will be any good. I like to see more focus on making an amazing game and less focus on making a amazing looking game.
For example, most of the survival horror games in this generation. So much potential and so few games ever pulled it off on the current hardware. It's not the best example, but it is an example that effected me personally.

Of course. That's why I said 'potential.' Just because there's more potential doesn't mean the devs will utilize it, unfortunately.

*insert passive-aggressive non-jab at the PS Vita here*

Good point. Zombi U is painfully average game.

I somehow have this feeling that 3D will be ditched in the next generation Nintendo handheld.
3DS games (or to a far lesser extent, DS games) might get backwards compatibility, but without 3D. Or there might be no BC at all, but I doubt it.

The next Nintendo handheld will definitely have two thumbsticks, likely to keep the dual screen layout, massively improved online (maybe Miiverse OS?), Ninty might add the Google Maps thingy on the Wii U on the next handheld as well.
Support for faster Wi-Fi networks, hardware bumps, slightly higher resolution. Yeah that's all I guess. I seriously doubt Nintendo will drop region locking since they are the ones who "pioneered" it.

For the next PSPortable, PS4-like graphics? Maybe they might add BC for Vita games, hope so.

Except that Zombi U development never was focused around making it look good, it was more of a way for Ubi to test the Wii U market as well as it gave them a new chance to revive their old IP.

No more clam-shell design
Inter changeable cases/shells
Tactile feedback
Resistive touchscreen
MicroSD slot instead of the SD port
Bluetooth and NFC
One large touch screen that can split into two for backwards compatibility (though forfeiting the 3D screen
An god-damn account system!

Ubisoft, feeding Nintendo consoles the crumbs of their table :(

I really like the clamshell design. And the large touchscreen method doesn't sound very "Nintendo-like" at all. Sony has done a similar thing with the tablet and honestly I don't like that idea.

What I really hope is Nintendo will ditch the resistive touchscreen and use one similar to the Galaxy Note series. I can only dream though, that technology is expensive.

Honestly, I don't think a top touch screen or capacitive touch screen with multitouch is necessary at all. I quite like the resistive screen for gaming, and it gives a sort of pressure feedback to let me know when I'm actually pressing on it (something not present in capacitive touch screens). Aiming with a touchscreen (games like Metroid Prime Hunters and Kid Icarus Uprising) works loads better with the DS/3DS resistive screen than it ever does with games like NOVA on capacitive smart phone screens.
I thought I was the only one who thought like that! I think most of the stereotype that resistive screen = bad comes from the fact that cell phones that use resistive screen tend to have shitty screen. But in fact, resistive screen can detect smaller points of contact than a capacitive screen can, plus you can use regular stylus with resistive screen, stylus for capactive screen are weird and not as precise. I would say capacitive screen are better for gesture making, but resistive screen are better for drawing, writing and clicking.

It's not the best horror/FPS game, but I find the multiplayer to be quite fun since you have a well implemented assymetrical gameplay (one player is the survivor in a FPS and the other commands zombies to kill the survivor in a real time strategy game fashion)

EDIT: And no Region Lock, even though I hate when people make a bigger deal of region locking than it is, it really sucks in cases when you move to or visit a country out of your region and you can't buy any games because of region locking. And people like to take handhelds everywhere, it is what they are meant for...
