So today in school, someone handed me a DSiXL that had an issue - it wouldn't turn on. He said it recognized the battery and that it was fully charged. I took it home and managed to confirm that the battery is, in fact, fully charged by holding it in a DSi while turning it on. However, the DSiXL won't turn on in any way possible, the screens don't even blink or anything. I took out the battery and plugged it in, and the battery issue indicator did not blink as it was supposed to. So I took off the bottom shell to investigate further, and I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I'm thinking it's a blown fuse issue, but I want to see if anyone else knew anything on this issue. If you need photos, I can provide one or two.

Edit: Here is an image of the DSiXL: http://i.imgur.com/fvbjxo2.jpg

I presume nobody has had any experience with DSiXLs? I'd like to identify the issue and determine what to do from here and return it to the person that owns it.

I have an issue with my white DSi. :hateit:
Check battery or bridge the blown fuse.
while looking for a solution to my problem irememger seeing a pic of the dsixl mobo with the fuses highlighted.

Also F4. As long as you can find them, and your soldering skills are good enough, you should be able to buy replace them or bridge them(more risky).
Mine is an original DSi flashing (orange light error). I think the fuses are in a diferrant place on DSi XL.

Searching it on Google only gives me R4 results, so until I can find it, I'll post the two I know of so far.

Fuse by the power adapter: http://i.imgur.com/Ny5yN24.jpg (Might retake this one. The lighting sucks)
Fuse under the battery board: http://i.imgur.com/5Jgi064.jpg

Edit: There are no lights that flash, so it might be F4 related then?

there are three fuses on ds lite, one for the outlet wall power cord that goes in the charging circuitry, one for bridging the battery with the motherboard, and the last one handles the current while the DS is turned on (power fuse)

And all three should also be on a DSiXL then?

Edit: Found a page that exactly describes the problem. I'm now pretty confident it's a fuse or SMD problem.

I'm leaning towards the SMD being broken though.

It's in spanish so i'll translate pics one by one:

Fuses NDSi/NDSiXL

"On NDSi / DSiXL we can find fuse F1 as on DSLites"

picture nº2:"F2 fuse is not located on the motherboard. It's located on the board that handles both battery and action buttons"

picture nº3:"In the backside of the board described, we can find the fuse that acts as F2 would on DSLites, even it's marked as F1 on the ceramic"

@TeamFail
I hope you can fix yours, i've fixed a few DSlite fuses back in the day by bridging burnt fuses with a bit of solder

Well, I don't have access to another DS Lite that's broken, but since I know of a place in town that does repairs, I'll call him and see if he can do fuse replacements on an XL.

lol those pics are actually from a DSIXL, just saying in case you feel like you want to repair it by yourself
