So in theory, could I try to load the PSP in service mode via Pandora just to see if the battery works and turn it off? If it loads in service mode then it should take 6.60 perm (without using Pandora battery). Is this right? Or should I just try loading 5.00 to see if it takes, then move it up to 6.60 pro?
Yes, booting pandora will just get you to a menu, you need to actually tell it to install a firmware for it to overwrite anything, and it's a quick test to see if your 2000 is an older model or a newer one.

I'm willing to bet monnies on 6.60 in your case, your firmware looks uber-early, cIPL will most likely work just fine but you can install standard perm first or boot a signed PSP-Ident to check your motherboard.

Also, lol Rydian, you crazy. :tpi:
