While its been known that The Witcher will be getting a third entry, nothing official has come of it. However, next month's Game Informer will spill the beans on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Some details include that the game map is 30x larger than The Witcher 2. That makes the world larger than Skyrim. It'll also run on the newly developed REDengine 3, which means it won't be broken up into acts like The Witcher 2 as it allows for free exploration. This means enemies won't scale with Geralt (the protagonist) either. There'll also be horses and fast travel, as well as mounted combat.

There will also be five times more unique animations for Geralt than the previous Witcher, as well as the ability to interrupt attack animations to dodge or block, although this depletes stamina. Dodging is no longer a clunky roll either, it's a simple pivot to keep the momentum of the fight going.

The Witcher 3 will launch in 2014 for the PC and "all top of the line consoles", whatever that entails. There's more info in the source as well.

ahh the fantastic graphics game. never seen a pc game as detailed and ran well with good optimizations.
just hoping they decrease the adult this time or at least make it fully 'optional'.

looking forward... at least to the screenshots

I can only hope it'll be the Witchest of them all. With that new engine, they should paint the town RED.

(Side note: Damn it, man! I was adding the finishing touches to my article on the announcement when I saw this. Whatever, I'm Geralt-tabbing out of here.)

The witcher 2 on the 360 is the only game I bought and then sold because I found it too hard! Couldn't get to grips with the controls even in the tutorial bits. Ashamed I know! I rock at Dark Souls as well!

2014 feels so far away... I just got into The Witcher because of the steam sale so at least I have a year or more to play both of them before this one comes out, hah.

I need to play the 1.5 version of the first and the second but I reckon I can still say this is a series I am happy to have stick around.

The Witcher is now apparently a trilogy.

Cyberpunk > Witcher

C'mon CD Project, make me proud!
I've yet to play Witcher, I'm planning to grab it when it dips to $5 bucks on Steam again.
But this. I really, really want to play Cyberpunk 2077.

Grab Witcher 2, it's superior in nearly every way.

Was looking forward to this, Witcher 2 really blew me out of the water and even though I'm the biggest Skyrim fanboy you'll find, I have no problem with admitting Witcher 2 is a better RPG and better graphics/story then Skyrim.
Amazing game.... Those graphics, that story.

Can't wait for 3, especially now they are really trying to mimic Skyrim.

I thought the Witcher 2 was pretty bleh honestly. Felt like a lot of unnecessary "risque" that made the game feel completely immature despite its praise as a "mature RPG". A mature game explores mature themes and tackles delicate subject matter delicately. It doesn't show tons of boobies and nudity and graphic sex scenes that are quite honestly useless in the scheme of things in order to bunch a few panties.

It had good production values and the gameplay was alright but the experience felt completely forgettable. This feels is already sounding a lot better being open world and hopefully with tons of content (as is being said) so I can give the forgettable story a pass.

Yeah, I'm planning to pick up both for $7.50 $10 this summer.

Witcher 2 is $10 right now on Steam for Midweek Madness.
It'll be 7.49 again this Summer, -75%.
$10 for Witcher 2 vs $10 for 1 & 2. I know it's just 2 bucks, but I'm a cheapskate. Also, I have a giant backlog, so I can wait.
True, you're right to wait, it'll go lower for sure again

I just watched the youtube vids. I'm very very close to placing a pre-order for PS4 now. It's either that or spend £800 on my PC. The PS4 is looking good.
