Is it possible for the first batch to be faulty?
This is not possible.

We will left some units from the each batch. And we had tested any unit from the last two batch. And they can save the game and the sav files are still readable.

The default size of the sav file is 136KB. Only those files whose size is 0 can not be read.

Since you said the sav file deleted or missed, I wonder if you can see the sav file or the sav file size is 0? For each K101, our factory had lowed down the power when the system need it to save the file. And our engineer here had tested it many times. This is to make sure the sav file =0 will not happen.

To let us solve this problem, we wonder if you guys can send the ROM and the sav files to me directly? We will test them here.

Hey Ruilong,

the problem is not that the .sav files are missing or disappearing. They are always there, visible in the menu and remain at a size of 139kb.

The problem is, even though the .sav file is there, the game itself doesn't seem to relate on the .sav file or the saveslot in the ROM anymore.
Just to show you what I mean, imagine you made a .sav file for Donkey Kong Country 3 on the TF-card.
Now you boot the Revo some time later - the .sav is still there with a size of 139kb.
You start Donkey Kong 3 again, want to load your gamestate and see this:

When you were playing the game before you had a progress of 70 % and now you are angry  ;)

I hope I'm describing everybody's problem in here correctly.
Nevertheless, without this problem it is a great device you and your guys made, Ruilong!

Yeah, this is what I was talking about - new save file, ontop the old one - pufff... game's progress is gone.

Ok i will help ruilong and maxzhou88 with the save issue.I upload a video for the save issue on the revo k101.I dont use any hotkey or anything only i power off the revo so many times and saving. At the third power off the revo k101 the save is gone

This the video:

im using the new firmware on the revo K101_K_FW_2012-12-27 and all my saves are gone no matter what i do to restore them.I hope with this proof can do a fix from the revo k101.Its a wonderful device its shame can not save properly.... :(

Thank you so much for clarifying the problem. I appreciate with your help. So the problem clear now:

You can save the game. And the sav files can be found. It is 136KB.

Though you can see this sav file on our computer( it is 136KB), but the "real sav files" gone. And you can not load it and start from the point you save the game.

So the problem is that that you can not save the game. It is not that the sav files can not be created. It is you can not read the sav files. Can I understand your problem clearly?

To let us check, we wonder if you can send the sav files to me via email? Gorefield, Xuio, alexei_gp?

Just send the sav file to me via email: [email protected]. We will test your sav file here.

Thanks.

Let me repeat again- this problem is really very hard to describe:

You can save the game. And the sav file are always there.( I remembered some people here said that the sav file got deleted or missed- If you can not find the sav file or the sav file's size is 0. That means you do not save the game well)

But what this sav file included is not the games you save. So when you turn on the device again you can not start the game from where you save the game. In a world, what you save is not the game but only a file which can not let you start playing games from where you saved.

I hope I clarify this problem well. It is hard for me.

The meaning" reading" I said is that you can load into the sav file and play your game from the saving point you did.

alexei_gp's video a few posts up shows exactly what happens. after a few power cycles the save no longer loads. the post by Xuio explains that the save file is actually being overwritten with a new save file (just check the images in the post above yours).

Ruilong if you see the video i link there in this thread you can see the problem the save is replacing with a new save doesnt have any progress, only ocurrs when you power off the device.I didnt use any hotkey in my video only turn off the revo.

I just tested this game- Donkey Kong Country 3 today. I play in three different player name. And I can saved the file and I can start from the game from the saving file on saveslot. Check the picture I took as below:
Donkey-Kong-Country3-sav.JPG

I used the hotkey- "*+start" to save the game. And I shut down the device and start it again and again many times- possibly 10 times when I took the bus today. And I can see the file there and start from what I saved.

Isn't it strange or is it lucky for me? I will keep playing this games till I complete all parts of it. And I will save each time when I go through each part. I will check if the save file missed or overwrite in these coming days.

I just tested this game- Donkey Kong Country 3 today.

I used the hotkey- "*+start" to save the game.

Don't use "*+Start" next time.

You should load the game too between this turning on and off revo (and don't use "*+start"!)

Btw. ruilong, could You tell us if someone will fix issues mentioned in this thread?

I kept doing save game and turn off the device and turn it on. And I can find the save games staying in the saveslot. But I used "*+start" to call out the save menu to save the games.

I had reported the problem to our manufacture.- the saved games will be missed randomly each time when you turn off the device and turn it on. We will work together and bring you a solution. I will post what we found here.

alexei_gp, I had tested the game you mentioned this afternoon- Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow.

I did not use any hotkey to save the game. But I press *+L to go back then turn off the device. I can find the save file there. It does not miss and I can load into it and start the game as the point where I save. I try this many times- possibly 5-10 times. The save file is there- no missed, no deleted.

Then I try your way as you showed in the video. When I save the game- do not use any hotkey, I turn off the device directly. Then I go back to the game after turning on the K101. I found the save games missed- just like you show in your video. But I still can see the save file.

So I guess that we need to press *+L to go back to the main menu and turn off the device. This will avoid save file missed? Can you try this way?

I had reported this problem to Maxzhou88. I want him to tell me why the save games missed when I turn off the device directly. Will report what we find here in these coming days.

In fact, Maxzhou88 had started to test the games there. I think the save files are missed randomly so it needs time for him to repeat the problem so that he can find out the reason caused on it.

by the way, this time I tested Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow just now. I can see the save file and start from the pointed when I save the game. ( I saved the game yesterday). I did not play K101 today but only start just now. Then I just turn off the device after I was beaten down by the Boss.

I load back to the game. Unfortunately the save games are gone!

So I suggest you to press *+L to go back to the main menu and turn off the device.

I will check thread "revo k101 sofware problems" later.
