2008 saw the release of FPPS (First Person Parkour Simulator) and vomit inducer Mirror's Edge. While there were hopes for a franchise from publisher EA, the somewhat disappointing sales figures seemed to have nipped that plan in the bud.

This coincides with DICE's previous statements that it didn't want to be just the "Battlefield factory", and that they were looking to add a bit more variety to their portfolio.
Keep in mind that we don't much at all about the project yet - it hasn't even been officially confirmed by EA. It may take some time before we know a release date or what systems it will run on.
Personally, I was hoping for a rhythm based spinoff, but I guess my dreams of playing "Man in the Mirror's Edge" will have to wait just a little while longer.

Ben Cousins, general manager of ngmoco Sweden and former executive producer of the Battlefield franchise, has tweeted to say Mirror's Edge 2 is indeed in development.
Tweeting in response to this very story Cousins said: "It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production at DICE."
