You do realise that this is just a Metroid themed mini game right? Have you any idea the concept of Nintendoland? You're Mii's are the characters wearing costumes for some of these games, you don't play the likes of Samus, Link etc.

And not buying a console just because of that...what are you, 8 years old?

Haha he joined 8 years ago, before you even. Still doesn't change the stupidity of the post.
It's mathematically still possible! :P

(I can already hear a proud father say it: "it's a boy! Great...I'll get him a gbatemp account right away!").

@OP: okay. Sure. Suit yourself. For the record: you can get a wiiu version WITHOUT nintendoland (either without any game, or with zombiiu).

No, I didn't realise it was a Mii game.. I guess that explains the horrible graphics.. My kids came in and said "there's a new Metroid for the Wii-U" and then we saw the video.. Even they were very dissapointed..

I am 41 with a wife and three kids.. We play lots of Wii, 3DS and XBox, but more 3DS and XBox as of late.. We do love us some Metroid, though!

Ok, I stopped by Gamestop and played the Wii-U for awhile.. It takes a little getting used to two screens (unlike the DS/3DS where the screens are right by each other).. Couldn't play Nintendoland, but did play Rayman..

Is the gamepad tethered to the console, or can you switch gameplay to the gamepad and go to the store and keep playing..?

There's a certain range of connectivity the gamepad has, just like any other wireless controller. It should work from anywhere in home however.

Will there be any 3DS connectivity compatibility? We have invested in four 3DSs, being able to connect them somehow to a Wii-U would be great!

That's going to be on a per-game basis. For example, they've said they intend to have some kind of connectivity with the 3DS and WiiU versions of the next Smash Bros, and Monster Hunter 3 on WiiU will allow transferring the save between the 3DS and WiiU versions.
