i dont know how much of an "rpg" you could call these - i certainly handt considered them so,
but i'm interested in more games similiar to (not necessarily 8-bit) top-down games like
Zelda
Pokemon
Earthbound/Mother
Harvest Moon
Rune Factory
Surviva Kids

mainly with the Gameboy feel,
i guess you could throw in there games like
Paper Mario /
Mario & Luigi series
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games

if you're wondering what these games have in common, dont worry.
mainly what i mean is that i'm not looking for games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Series, etc etc

for PC i recomend you Titan Quest and Titan Quest Imortal Throne
but, for SNES , i recomend you 7th saga

besides
i also recomend you looking into youtube into some videos like this

We might have similar tastes, since I also like Zelda and Survival Kids, and dislike Dragon Quest and Chrono Cross. I also liked:
Hanjuku Hero
Animal Crossing
Metal Saga

Are there any other games you've played and enjoyed that you could recommend? I'd like to take recommendations from someone who has a similar taste, if we do have similar tastes.

Hanjuku Hero for which system?

Rune Factory is a Top-Down Action RPG and Life Simulator, and RF3 specifically (the best, in my opinion) is one you should give a try. It's full name is "Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon", it's a spin-off of the Harvest Moon series, and an unexpectedly good one, at that.

The Secret of Mana is a great one as well, the music is incredible and the gameplay is fun; the characters are endearing and the graphics are quite nice, it's another one I suggest you give a shot.

Ys series
Lagoon (SNES, though it's [an inferior] port)
Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
Soul Blazer (SNES)
Terranigma (SNES)
The Seken Densetsu series
Star Tropics (NES)

If you go to romhacking dot net and sort their translations by system, especially the NES, you'll find some great ones to try. I just don't remember their names ^^;

I think it's Famicom, but there's more than one Hanjuku Hero game.

-_- Yes, that was my point, asking which system you played it or.

Alundra seems obvious. There there's also Gunman's Proof, Blood Omen Legacy of Kain, Crusader of Centy, Beyond Oasis and if you can stomach the switch to 3D Okami.

woah, thanks for all the suggestions!
sorry for my lack of response, it seems i forgot to follow the topic! ^^;

i've heard of Titan Quest but hadnt looked into it yet, i'll make sure i do, 7th Saga i dont think i've ever heard of, though.

Ys

Ys.

That's all.
yes, Ys i've been meaning to play that, believe it or not, it still havent, but i will, so i cant comment on that yet XD

Hanjuku Hero looks interesting albeit inaccessible, and i'll look into the Metal Series, too. Hopefuly i'll find some translation patches.
Animal Crossing i like, but never been able to get so much into it.

Off the top of my head have you tried/liked Mother/Earthbound? if not, really you should, i even feel silly mentioning it.
For the tactical games - which i'm guessing you like - Fire Emblem series is an obvious, and Advance Wars, and i'm sure there's more i just cant think of it at the moment.
Dont know if you like those, but i really liked the action-battle / party system / item-gear stuff in Paper Pario and Mario & Luigi series, so if you still havent tried them you should.
I really like those games with a distinctive Nintendo feel, and those are just obvious choices.
ALSO if you like Zelda, Darksiders (PC/360/PS3) is a really great game (series now) and not as tiresome as the later Zelda games

Crystalis (NES and a GBC remake)
i actually have that game on my playlist, i'm just torn over what version to play =/ any thoughts?

=O i actually really like Rune Factory! i dont know how i forgot to include it on the list, i'll add it now. those games are pretty awesome, thanks for reminding me.
I dont think i've played the Secret of Mana series, but i kinda intend on doing so, so thanks for reminding me that too

I wonder if you would enjoy some classics like the original Phantasy Star series.

Ys series
Lagoon (SNES, though it's [an inferior] port)
Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
Soul Blazer (SNES)
Terranigma (SNES)
The Seken Densetsu series
Star Tropics (NES)

nice list you got there, the Quintet games are pretty cool. though wouldnt Lagoon count as a traditional (J)RPG?
i've never heard of Seken Densetsu, i think.
Star Tropics i think could indeed really go along with these games

Alundra seems obvious.
There there's also Gunman's Proof,
Blood Omen Legacy of Kain,
Crusader of Centy,
Beyond Oasis
and if you can stomach the switch to 3D Okami.
Alundra has really nice visuals actually, and i like how they retained the main Zelda mechanics
you got me thinking of Soul Reaver for a while there, i guess i never played the Blood Omen series i'll have to look into it.
Crusader of Centy on genesis was pretty nice as a Zelda clone kida
i've never hard of Beyond Oasis, obscure enough to get my attention, i'll look into it, i've really had a hard time finding decent genesis/md games
by Okami do you mean the Wii/DS games?

Wouldn't ye olde Final Fantasy (I-VI) fit in this category?
i'd have to revisit them, but how exactly would the fall into this category?
wouldnt they instead be more like traditional J-RPGs?

They were rpgs that you controlled from a top down perspective (when not in battle anyway). So... wouldn't they apply?

A couple of games I enjoyed:
Alundra (PS1)
Breath of Fire 2 (SNES),3 (PS1)
Chronicles of Radia War on NES (u'll need to play it via rom if u wanna play it translated, it's sorta like zelda 1 but with random encounters, level ups n stuff :) )
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Chrono Cross (PS1 emu)
Crusader No Centy (Mega Drive/Genesis)
Final Fantasy 6 (SNES),7 (PC)
Secret of Mana (SNES), Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3) (SNES)
Soul Blazer (SNES)
Star Tropics (NES)
Tales of Destiny (PS1) and maybe rest of Tales games (different consoles)..
Terranigma (SNES)
Ys 6 and forward (PC / PSP)

But I suggest u start with:
Secret of Mana
It's my all time favourite Action RPG even tho the spell system is sorta lame. Best thing about it is that you can play it with not one, but TWO friends if you'd like to.

Next you should play:
Final Fantasy 6
It's my all time favourite Classic (J)RPG with lots of charming characters, neat gameplay elements, a cool story and great music!
