I still have the games + an SP to play them on but a remake would look pretty nice in my collection. I'm just hoping they kill off the DS line soon, sending a flagship game to a previous gen console while you continue to neglect the current gen is bad business practice IMO. No, the new Mario filler doesn't count.

There's no point in remaking them, considering you can get all of the Pokémon between Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HG/SS/Black/White.
And all of these are still sold in stores, and most likely will remain for a while.

There is no point now.
With the release of a 3DS pokémon everything may change.

As long as all of the Gen IV games are still sold in stores, then there would be no point.
But if the release of Gen VI on 3DS would make them stop selling Gen IV, then yes, I would agree.

If I'm not mistaken, the 3rd gen wasn't compatible with it's previous.
If that was the case with 6th gen, there would be a point in remaking them.

I think remakes are good independent of compatibility.
A remake of Ruby and Saphire would bring new life to those games.

First 6th gen will arrive for the 3DS, utilising 3DS hardware to full effect, new game mechanics, new pokemon and laying out the platform for future Pokemon 3DS games. Ruby/saphire remakes will come after using the 6th gen mechanics and a full remake using assets or improved assets of the 6th gen game.

I think this isn't a case of "will it happen?" rather "when will it happen?" Pokemon Remakes seem to come generation-by-generation to respective consoles. GBA=R/G DS=G/S, so logic states 3DS=R/S. The logic behind "it shouldn't happen because 3rd Gen Pokemon can be used in recent Pokemon games that are still retail" is flawed. By that logic, Super Mario 3D Land shouldn't exist because I can already play a 3D Mario game that is still available on DS.

There's just the wait for an original Pokemon game to be made for the 3DS first.

But that's not a remake of it...

That makes literally no sense. Super Mario 3D Land is an entirely new game.

Pokémon Ruby and Saphire can be played on DS Phat and DS Lite,
but these DS models, and those game are already difficult to find in stores.
The whole process of transfering Pokémons from 3rd gen to 5th gen is already troublesome.
With the release of a 3DS pokémon, or 6th gen games, everything could change.
For me, a remake of Ruby and Saphire is a necessary step for the pokémon franchise,
and it's just a matter of time when it will happen.

I don't see why. You could just as easily say the same thing for the Fire-Red/Leaf-Green remakes, which aren't compatible with the current generation. Even the remakes eventually become incompatible with the newer versions as hardware changes.

The same thing happens to Fire-Red and Leaf-Green,
but all the legendaries from R/B/Y/FR/LG were on in those remakes.
Kanto appeared in Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Fire-Red, Leaf-Green, Heartgold and Soulsilver
The Regis weren't in HG/SS, and the only games hoenn was avaiable were Ruby and Saphire.

Well the Regis were in Plat though :( though you needed Regigas (my corneas still burn every time I see it) but yea I know that is beside the point

In any case, if/when RSEmakes are made, please for the love of God, do NOT integrate that eyesore. Gimme Jirachi, Deoxys. Heck even Celebi (cos I like catching Pokemon in game as opposed to just getting it from events or in this case a special uber rare disc). I love the 3 Regis as they are.... I will never acknowledge the 4th >:(

I wanted the same as you, but Nintendo is greedy as hell,
if they can double the sales, by releasing almost the same game twice,
there's no doubt they'll do it.

To say the truth, I hope that Nintendo does not release a Pokémon Gray,
Black 2 and White 2 still have their exclusive legendaries.
Those games are still far different than a 3rd game.

In my opinion, the chances of Gray being released are f****** high.
I'd like to see a 6th gen game, or a R/S remake for the next pokémon main series game.

A pokémon Yellow remake, with the orange league :)
