That would be cool.

But completely implausible.

once homebrew come to the wii u (more than likely a long time if like the 3ds)

there wiil be a nds emulater like the wii

Yes. And how many DS games worked on that emulator...?

That's right, near none.

3DS definitely no. Nintendo would lose sales of 3DSs as people could just play it on their Wii U. DS possibly but I think the same logic can be applied since Nintendo advertised the ability to play DS games on the 3DS.

Technicalities aside, I can see how DS games could be played like this via Virtual Console, but I doubt Nintendo would shoot themselves in the foot with the 3DS.

Never stopped the Gamecube Player.
I'm sorry, but it is the Game Boy Player. Why are people calling it that?

Technicalities included, do you think it is possible by just filling up the pixels?

I guess Nintendo could have the 3ds stream to the console.

I firmly believe that Nintendo, being in posession of all 3DS development-related resources would be entirely capable of creating a 3DS emulator on the current WiiU hardware - despite popular opinion, the 3DS isn't *that* strong specs-wise - it's somewhere between a Gamecube and a Wii. They won't do it though, as they're actively selling 3DS hardware.

If the games were to be processed externally and simply displayed on the WiiU, there is no external slot to connect a so-called "Player". Perhaps via a serial cable and a 3DS, but I doubt it - where would you connect it on the 3DS itself? To the cartridge slot? Even if it did processing externally for the WiiU instead of using emulation, that's a very crude solution - too "Nintendon't" if you ask me.

DS games on the otherhand are within reach and a DS emulator will probably be the first thing after "hello world" to pop up after the hardware is fully homebrewable, since the setup is perfect.

"Pixels" aren't a problem when you can implement hardware-assisted resizing and filters.

I've been thinking about this for a while. Nintendo does have a history of releasing adapters to play handheld games on the TV:

Super Game Boy for SNES
Game Boy Player for Gamecube.

Both of these devices contain hardware of the handheld it plays, so I believe a new player would also have the hardware.

If the games were to be processed externally and simply displayed on the WiiU, there is no external slot to connect a so-called "Player". True, not having an external slot for the player could be a problem. Would USB work though? Also, wasn't it mentioned once that the 3DS might be usable as a Wii U screen? If that is the case, imagine if the 3DS could send the screen data wirelessly to the Wii U, no secondary player-peripheral needed. How awesome would that be?

Play your 3DS on-the-go, bring it home, put it on the table in standby. Wireless link with the Wii U, and play your 3DS/DS games on the TV, with the Wii U gamepad working as the bottom touch-screen.

The 3DS doesn't have a slot it could use though, as far as I know, the one it has is merely for the charger, like the DS's, DS Lite's, DSi's and DSi XL's slots.
