Hi,

Was really looking forward to getting my supercard DSTWO but sadly it's turning out to be a dead end. I'm concerned I might have wasted my money.

I'm using a DS Lite, i've installed the EOS and all the latest updates etc.. from the site. The Supercard boots up fine, I go inside, select a ROM and then.... nothing. It just goes to the 'Loading" screen and completely seizes up. None of the buttons are responsive and the only thing I can do it power the unit off.

The interesting thing is however.. I can get one game and one game only to run. Kirby's Canvas Curse. Absolutely everything else crashes on that loading screen (and i've tried tons of roms). Another point to note is that Canvas curse has an actual game icon, whereas all the others seem to have generic icons? Not sure if that means anything.

I'm really starting to get disillusioned, i've tried refomatting the card with sdformatter, re-installing the os and updates, putting the rom files in the root folder.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

**Update: deleted kirby's canvas curse and put the ROM back in, it's now showing the generic icon and it freezes like all the others. This makes me certain it's not the ROMs but something else.

The generic icons indicate a corrupt ROM. All valid ROMs should have their own icons at all times.

It sounds like your MicroSD reader's a piece of crap. The cheap ones that come with flash carts tend to be crappy and will overheat and corrupt the data during long transfers, so small files like the EOS work fine, but when you try to transfer way larger files (like ROMs) it overheats and corrupts the data.

It's either that, or the MicroSD itself overheating, but this is way less common than the reader being crappy.

I've got a feeling your analysis could be well made. I don't think it's the DSTWO card as some games are running, I don't think it's the rom s i've tested them on my pc and they seem to be fine; however I was noticing last night that the SD card was heating up to a concerning level. I'm thinking now to troubleshoot by picking up a decent card reader.

I took everything off the card this morning and put two roms (that seemed to work before) back on the card, one at a time. They both work. Trouble is i'm trying it with others (roughly the same size) and they're not working (same thing no icon). It's perplexing. I think first port of call is to try another reader. Then after that maybe another SD card??

Thanks for your help, it was insightfull.

It's always best to purchase a well branded microSD, it will save you a lot of hassle.
I got a sanDisc 16gb from Amazon for about $8. Sounded a bit too good to be true? I'm going to get another one today and test it out anways. I've also ordered a half-decent new reader so we'll see how it goes. I'll be sure to post my findings on here in case anyway else runs into these issues.

Update:

Bought a new SD card and reader (decent reader 7 bucks on amazone), everything is working fine. My suspicion is that the card got fried using the supplied reader during the 2 hour formatting time (took like 20 minutes with the new reader).

I would say now to seriously re-consider using the card reader that's supplied with the DSTWO or at the very least use it for short transfers.

Thanks to the folks who gave me advice, much appreciated.

How did you do 2 hours formatting the sd card. Why? didn't you use panasonic sd formatter 3.1 on your card, on quick format, does it in seconds.

I read in a guide to do make sure to do FULL (erase) + FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT ON. Don't know why it takes that long but that's how long it took with the other reader?

You don't have to. Just use panasonic sd formatter 3.1 on your card, on quick format, It the best thing, plus it quicker. If you ask anyone they say the same.
