This is my first time posting on a forum so please excuse me if i sound like a total NoOb.
I have installed Super Mario Brothers (25th Anniversary [special/limited?] edition) (pal) Virtual Channel wad on my Homebrewed Wii. The one where all the coin blocks are "25" instead of "?". I know they only released it on the red Wii's in Japan and Australia and I have tried to Region Free my Wii. I have cruised many forum topics and tried several different methods to get this channel/game working without success. I've tried "Freethewads" program to change the region of the wad, I installed Priiloader and used the "Region Free Everything" hack setting, and several other methods. I ran "Syscheck" on my Wii and am posting the results here. Hopefully someone can take a look and tell me what it is i'm doing wrong or not doing right to help me solve this issue. Thanks.

Any suggestions on which patch I should apply? I'm guessing that IOS80 is my system menu, and would applying the patch render my Wii Region Free or just allow me to play out of region VC channel wads?

if u were a noob who wasn't pirating wiiware I'd be more willing to help, as it stands now I'm purposely being cryptic with my responses

This is virtual console not wiiware. It's also a wad Nintendo never made available for purchase from the shop channel, AND pal exclusive. You must normally buy an entire pal wii console bundle to obtain it.

That's not entirely true, it was only on the Red Mario wiis in all regions, but yeah, you could never buy it on any shop channel.

that's why I'm saying as much as I am. If it were something he could easily purchase instead of pirate I would have kept 100% silent

I don't recall the US Red Wii offering it... Looks like Japan's did, on second thought.

No. "easily" isn't the anwser, it's "cannot".

All NTSC-U region console owners must pirate this game. It may not in any way or form be purchased from Nintendo of America, or be run legally as an import. Nintendo hasn't released a transfer utility to move licenses between different region consoles.

Snes9xGX, anyone?
Really? You do realize he's trying to install an officially modified version of an NES Rom, right? Last time I checked SNES9xGX didn't run NES roms...though there is a point there, I'm sure the Rom has been extracted and therefore should be able to be run via an NES emulator like FCEUGX.

EDIT: yep, I just found the extracted Rom and booted up on my Android using nesoid and it works fine.

How about this, I'm trying to play by ALL the rules here. I'm NOT TRYING to pirate ANYTHING! I just happened upon it one night and thought it was ok to install it, this is my first time trying this, I'm NOT an idiot, but I try to be respectful and follow rules like we're supposed to. I've already deleted the wad off my Wii and cpu so that I am in compliance with "official" rules. thanks for being "cryptic". I guess being new to all this is wrong and Everyone that already has the knowledge stands heads above the rest of us. thanks. :0(

I wouldn't bother deleting it. You're morally justified in this case. Nintendo is big enough they could've found a promotion to bring this to the US.

OP = Original Poster --> in this case that's you

SM = System Menu

SM IOS for 4.3 Wii's = IOS80

btw, I may be "cryptic", but I made an app so that everyone that already has the knowledge doesn't "stand heads above the rest". My app, ModMii, if used correctly, can make any noob a "pro" overnight. In fact, just resoftmodding your wii using it will achieve your desired outcome.
