Hacking First time updating 3ds for acekard 4.2

So I found my acekard after a few years of it being lost, and I want to update it to work with my 3ds. The new update (The first one i'm using on this) 4.2 has two files, One for the 3ds/dsi, and one for the dsl and ds. If im using a dsl to update my acekard to work with my 3ds, which update file do I use?

If you're using a DSL use the DSL file

But its going to be used for a 3ds, yet I need to use the dsl to first update it to work with the 3ds. I use the dsl one anyway?

Either one. The DSL file is usually just for multiple cartridges.

Okay, thanks, While im at it, I should ask, what am I going to expect happen when i use the dsl, and how long will whatever updating it needs take, and do i need any more files that im missing than that one

there is a reason forums feature stickie thread sections. it is so repetitive questions can be answered without interaction from the community. it is very important to read seek out these sections when you join a new community.
