Shipping depends on your option. You go the free route, it says it can take up to weeks, but I actually managed to get mine one a little less then 2 weeks

Actually the R4i Gold got the update out way before the AK2i.

The Official R4i Gold 3DS does too.

"Official" R4i Gold doesn't exist.

Actually coming from someone who owns both the R4i Gold and Acekard 2i, I suggest going with the R4i Gold.
A few reasons I can list: R4i Gold has faster updates both for Wood R4 and the card's firmware, Wood R4 has pretty most of the features of AKAIO just simplified, and the card doesn't have that annoying connection issue.

Acekard 2i is a great card, but other than AKAIO it's a bit flawed.
