No idea at all. Sounds really weird, I have my wii connected to the PC capture card and the volume monitors don't show anything amiss when a game is silent.
Just made a video of it, also wrote a few words into the description:
[yt]b_4NMihcxNU[/yt]
As you can see/hear same on my tv card on pc.

Does this mean I can't get the ISO "elsewhere" and use my retail disc to verify it? I have my original discs, but some of them are too scratched up to make 1:1 dumps. I don't have many GC games anymore anyway, so it doesn't matter that much, but I'm just curious. If not, I can just buy new copies. Games are pretty cheap now, unless they are collectors items.

Edit: Will it hurt anything if I keep the "CON_EnableGecko(1, 1);" line uncommented, even though I may not always have my USB Gecko plugged in?

if its a 1:1 dump you "obtained" it should varify with your disc...... as long as the first 8 byte section isn't scratched?

Burned copies wont work. You need originals. use the original once for verification. It's an anti piracy measure.

Well, if that is the case, in order not to be too disrespectful, thank you but no thank you and good luck with the project.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was disc-specific.

Has anyone tested on Wii's with a modchip & if the game is multidisk? I have a chipped wii also softmodded so I can do the test if anyone is interested :)
Are .DVV files perconsole? what is to stop people sharing them?
I see these getting leaked somewhere if possible lol albeit the only one I want is for FFCC..............................................................

EDIT: Is there not code.google page? I would like to link this to my sig if not I'll just have to do use forum.

afaik this is it, no google code, not open source.

When I load devo loader from HBC it creates a new app/devo folder on my usb drive and stores my memory and auth files there.
It would be nice if it optionally could save this data on the device devo is booted from, all my HBC apps load off sd (games are on usb).

Anyway thanks for this.

Impressive work on this! I really wish I didn't give away all my Gamecube games since my rips won't work without the original discs. :( I guess its DIOS MIOS for me or bust.

This is true.

No one's tested and reported but I'm sure if the Wii thinks it's a retail game then Devo will, too. Some things just can't be blocked.

I kinda think they still would be per console but if you have a dead drive and a friend with a working drive, you could always do the test.
Even if it's not per console I think someone said that if you even breathe on the DVV file it asks to re-verify so it might also be with time stamps so it's still the same thing. Even if you're using a friend's Wii you would have to install/verify it with your disk into YOUR hard drive and not move the files around the hard drive after that. The test would be if when you put it back on your own Wii they would still be verified.

Basically, though, that makes it virtually impossible to "leak" the DVV file.

EDIT : At least now, with this innovation, you have the chance to back up and verify your disks NOW in case your drive goes bad in the future. Even scratched disks aren't really a problem. If you can find a good place to download a 1:1 image you still might be able to read enough to verify it even if you can't actually rip it yourself.

Would still like to know if DVV files are per console?
@tueidj what stops ppl swapping dvvs?
Just to minimize people's efforts to hack this, though, I'm sure he will neither confirm nor deny that or tell you how he did it.

someone mentioned that attempting to just move the files around at all then putting them back made them stop working, so the data probably includes reference to the files time stamp, or a reference to the physical address allocated on the drive itself

I moved mine around (to my PC and back, to back them up) and I'm sure it still worked.. they are read-only so I dont think it would make a difference time-stamp wise?

EDIT: re-tested and I needed to re-verify. I was incorrect.

I had to authorize again when I cut/paste files created from usb to apps/devo directory on sd.

I hoped I could do something similar, ideally I wanted to keep them on sd in apps with the loader but have back ups for updates, formatting sd, change usb drive etc. I guess its the way it works.
