I think it would be cool to see a different method of AP. For the new drives that spit out gamecube discs, and for other wiis with failed drives.

Just curious, are you able\willing to share your plans to eventually support the horizontal Wii's (i.e. how to verify images without being able to read GC discs)? Is it safe to assume that users would need to verify the games on an older model Wii before being able to play them on a horizontal Wii? Thanks again dude.

Thanks for asking, i was thinking about the same thing and was gonna ask :P

Can anyone answer my question?

really dude? you demand an answer after no one answering you for 20 minutes?

Horizontal wii can read GC games just like all other wii's, they are just lacking the memory card and controller ports.

They can read gc games just fine. failed drives .....well they are broken so get them fixed.

Has anyone seen a read error that says

Code:
An error has occurred.
turn the power off and refer to the
Nintendo GameCube Instruction Booklet
for further instructions.

I'd probably need a USB gecko to find out more, just wondering if anyone got it. Got this right after the disc verification for Mario Party 6. The disc light is solid and just this black screen with the above text. It resets back to HBC with the power button press.

On second try, I launch the game from the loader, the disc drive flashes twice fast, then the error pops up and the light goes solid at the same time.

Devolution (or at least i suspect devolution) corrupted my drive

I have this same problem, I ripped my retail P.N.03 with cleanRip and store the .iso in /games on my HDD (FAT32).
BTW I have 2 partitions, FAT32 (main) and NTFS.
This is a loader issue (for which the source code is available), it either can't see the /games directory or find any .iso files in it.

[ 4037.406202] scsi 9:0:0:1: Enclosure WD SES Device 1032 PQ: 0 ANSI: 4
I'm guessing these are the 2 logical units for that USB device, my code starts at the highest LUN and searches downwards so it's querying the "Enclosure" first... I'll have to make it more tolerant for non-LBA units.

Not sure that's true for all of them. From what I've read, some can read GC discs, while others will not accept them at all. Some time ago I posted pictures comparing the drives and the non-GC model's drive controller board had a chip missing, presumably used for reading GC games.

Wrong. New horizontal Wii's do spit out GC discs.

Happens to me too...try using chkdsk /f Drveletter:

That didn't work for me when my SD card got corrupted, though.
