Been giving some thought to buying the tennis game, mostly because of the online multiplayer. I mean, I've got Mario Tennis already on N64, Gamecube, GBA, even the Wii (i.e. new play control tragedy). So really the quality of the online experience w/ the 3DS game is the biggest reason I've got to justify purchasing.

I can foresee three likely general descriptions of the ongoing situation ....

1) all noobs are crushed by 'pros' who have nothing to do w/ their lives except get amazingly skilled at mario tennis, making it a very frustrating and somewhat futile experience

2) a fun time is had by all. So long as you're able to at least 'beat' the single-player game, you can hang in online play against the majority of opponents

or

3) it's a ghost town already.

Of course, could be a combination of the above. If you're playing this game online a bunch, how would you describe it?

don't know about #3 but this would be a FC game at it's best IMO... tricky type players are cheap assholes with serving.

Your number one fear about the ass pros? Yeah they are rampant my friend. It is insane how fast some people can beat you just by serving. If you wanna play online, your gonna need some skills o.o

but its true. most tennis games you have an adavntage of winning while serving. Even I sometimes win a game(not set) when serving LOL.

In the end I love the online gameplay. Just wish I was better at the game. Guess being able to beat all cups in single and double doesnt really help in online.
I also just got Baby Peach with the 500 ring bonus challenge. Took me an hour and a half LOL.

Mario sports games always have cheap ways to beat other human players. You shouldn't be surprised that all the tryhards or pros or no-lifers or skilled players can win with cheap tactics. You should never buy a game based on its multiplayer cuz in almost all games, the multiplayer has something to annoy the fuck out of casual players or people just new to the game. Mario kart on the other hand is fun for both newbs and pros alike :P

Well, I bought the game because I've always been a fan of the series. Having fun with the single-player game, beat a couple tournaments. The GBA game is still my favorite, but this game is a good time nevertheless. But, I decided to try an online match (knew I'd get my ass kicked) and was shocked when I entered LAGworld. The game was playing at about 1/6th speed, full of jittery lag. I couldn't control my character for shit, and lost a quickie tiebreaker match 7-2, all on serves of course. I didn't mind the losing, but the lag made the game absolutely unplayable. I don't think it's my connection, and I have no troubles whatsoever with MK7. Is it always like this???

ITT: Playing the game online sucks because other players are better than them. Those skilled assholes!!
There's a time when continuously facing the tryhards starts to take away the fun. SSFIV3D did it right by letting you match up with people in your skill level
