WiiFlow 3.1 (Mod) Installation and Setup

WiiFlow 3.1 (Mod) Installation and Setup

** This guide and more can also be found on WiiFloWiki 4**

This guide is an attempt to explain how to install WiiFlow 3.1 (mod) on your Wii. It will not go into detail about using the Homebrew channel, wad managers, and partitioning your USB HDD. Here's some links that might help you with them.

HBC - https://sites.google...omebrew-channel
Wad Manager - https://sites.google...use/wad-manager

Just to clarify - this is only for the WiiFlow currently coded by Fix94, Overjoy, and team which I'm a part of.

I'm still using r506 and I can't get my NES roms to show up if my life depended on it. My plugin rom directory reads romDir=fceugx\roms and on my SD card I have it set to fceugx\roms as well. I've tried to reload cache and checked my .ini file to and everything looks ok. Any words of advice to what's wrong? Thanks.
Do you use categories? i just checked my categories.ini and found it all mixed up. Yours might have gotten changed to a category other than 'All'. Wait - that's probably not it cause that would affect all plugins. Check your categories.ini if it's screwed up delete it. If this doesn't help try going to the wiiflow/cache/lists folder and manually deleting NES list. make sure you have the extensions for your NES roms listed in the fceugx.ini
Thank You for your response fledge. I will go look at it now and check.
Don't forget to make sure you are using forward slashes '/' instead of backslashes for the rom folder path. If this works thank Maxternal for noticing that in your post.
Well I tried everything you listed above.. but still nothing. I changed the "/" cuz it was the the backlash and I thought for sure that was it. I also deleted the one in list file and categories.ini and check the. Do you think it's because I'm changing the plugin .dol file to boot.dol and placing it in emulator app/fceugx? I thought that was what your supposed to do?
Thanks for your help and patient with me
The plugin dol file must be in the wiiflow/plugins folder. and don't name it boot dol - Name it 'fceugx-mod9.dol' and make sure you have this line in the corresponding plugin ini file - 'dolFile=fceugx-mod9.dol'

And no you are not supposed to rename and move any of the dol files to apps. That only applies to the actual hombrew emu apps. These are modified to be plugins for WiiFlow.

Also after you rename it and put it back in wiiflow/plugins. when you run wiiflow you may have to go to the home menu and select rebuild cache.

EDIT2: Wait! Do the folders in the .ini files need to use forward slashes? I copy/pasted mine from windows explorer, which uses back slashes!
Yes, forward slashes.
It's always something simple, isn't it?
By the way, @[member='toddofwar420'], You might want to check this, too. Even if it is just out of habit I noticed in your post you, too, are quoting yourself as having put backslashes in the romDir= setting. You might have done the same in the INI file without thinking about it.
Thank you for your responses I have recieved from the both you and fledge. But I finally found out what the problem was. At first it was the backslashes, then it was I didn't have a default theme. So it was showing my games but not to where I could see them, so I just adjusted the coverflow. But I got them all going now for sure. Thanks again guys :D

Quick ?: Which is better for wiiflow mod d2x-v8 Final, or dx2-v9-beta(r49)FIX?? I got dx2-v8 Final installed, but I don't really know what the difference is in v9 beta. Can someone please let me in on that?

Actually I'd like to know this too. I hear that d2x-v8 Final is better for emunand and since I'm big on using my e-nand I'd rather keep compatibility high with that.

I've checked the changelog for the d2x cIOS here, unfortunately there's not much there that I can fully understand so my main concern is if it's worth it to update to d2x-v9 (r49)FIX if my USB is already recognized and works well? I know for USB-Loader GX it's necessary for certain features to work but does anything in WiiFlow right now require d2x-V9 for anything? Basically, do [member='FIX94'], [member='Fledge68'], or OJ recommend to update?

Better yet maybe the question should be under what circumstances is an upgrade recommended to v9(r49)FIX if v8 Final is working well.

I think the only real difference is v9 r49 can do a region switch for those few and far between games that actually check the system menu region and refuse to run out of region.
Even the features GX uses are not included in r49. They're in a later, unreleased beta build so it's up to you.

Thanks Maxternal, if anyone else can chip in they're thoughts and knowledge it would be appreciated.
I was using d2x 9 r49 and didn't have any problems. but saw Fix was recommending d2x 8 for emu nand so i switched to it. For me it seems like d2x 8 on wiiflow is a bit slower to start things but otherwise no difference.

By the way in case you missed it in the wiiflow thread - I've been messing with a WiiFlow website version of my wiiflow setup thread - check it out here.

https://sites.google...flowusersguide/

Should i stick with GBAtemp or switch to the google website?

This might already be answered or just darn well obvious, but is there a way to define a default view (or at least make a view first in the order) for wiiflow-mod? I mean in terms of Wii games or DM(L). I want Wiiflow to open the DIOS MIOS games list at startup. Is there a way?

I like the way the website's going. It looks like the search for a WiiFlow.info might not be as necessary. It could be used for a more in-depth reference while having the GBATemp tutorial serve as a simple startup guide to get the basics put together. It's still good to keep this guide up to date since it may be what people find first.

I kinda think there isn't one right now but that would be a really nice feature to add.

Indeed somehow I did miss the wiki site and a huge thank you, although the thread is always a great place to answer questions I feel the site can be much cleaner and crisper and can pretty much answer 90% or more of newbies questions. That way you guys can focus on coding rather then always answering questions on the thread. So the website I say should be the way to go :D Thanks Fledge and i hope the team and community continue to add to the wiki. Maybe [member='BostonBC'] can join in the fun there. He's had to deal with a fairly atrocious site host afterall.

I second that feature addition, I'm kinda surprised it hasn't already been implemented with everything FIX does so fast all the time lol.

I'm having problems with plugins returning to wiiflow. Ive installed the extra plugin wad to enable it, and ive set wiiflow to return to wiiflow, but plugins always return to the system menu. Dios mios and wii games return to wiiflow properly. I have priiloader set to boot wiiflow and return to priiloader.

Uhmmmm .... have you used it since i changed the size of the button images to 120x90? I didn't move them to the right, just expanded the width of the buttons and everything centers better. But glad you're happy. :) Oh wait ... if you are using carbonik ... I remember now there was some button position settings in there that I forgot to take out in the last theme post. I took them out this time so that must be what you are referring to.

My first guess is the problem is you are using priiloader to launch wiiflow. but I'm just making a logical guess. try running wiiflow from the system menu or use priiloader and edit a plugin .ini file and change ReturnLoader=yes to no and try that.

Another question. Where do I find the modified emulators to work with emuflow? Im just starting to put this together. The emus I use are NES, SNES, VBA, Hugo, Atari 2600, Wii64, etc. Am I missing something? I do need modified emus right?

Ok I have the emulators working. Wii games working. Everything going back to wiiflow. The only problem I have is wiiflow won't see my GameCube games. It keeps asking me for a partition. I am trying to use devolution. I put the loader.bin where it belongs. Do I need a plugin for devolution? Is this version set up to use dios mios by default? I've been reading different threads here for hours and I don't see anyone else having this issue.

Never mind. I figured it out. GameCube games have to each be in their own folder inside the games folder. Then rename the isos to game.iso. All is good now

Hi guys. I'm asking here because I searched a lot without success.

It is possible to create a forwarder dol what will call Wiiflow with specific parameters? What I want is to create forwarder channel that will launch wiiflow-mod on a specific screen. I want to make a channel that opens willflow directly on snes channel. Then I want another channel that will open wiiflow on genesis files only, etc.

Is this possible? Anyone can point me how can I achieve this?

Thanks you so much!
