This thread makes the prospects of a hack depressing.
Everytime someone posts something that sounds like it could do something, someone else shoots it down with a simple explanation.
We need someone to step out of the darkness and reveal themselves as the Dark Alex of the 3DS scene.
Hopefully some slight breakthrough or glimmer of hope shows itself soon. In theory, anything manmade can be deconstructed or reverse engineered. This just seems like a system that can't be cracked.

Has anyone ever thought of using the system transfer option to maybe get a hack going? I was wondering, since you can transfer all your apps(including ambassador games/status), would the 3ds be using a single key for all consoles or if it has different ones per hand held? If it has console specific ones, would it be decrypting them before sending them over the wifi to be re-encrypted using the other handhelds key? If the console specific keys is true, wouldn't it be easier to crack the wifi to get the decrypted files rather than trying to get the key it self? Or possibly uncovering the key being used?

When you do a system transfer, you aren't really transferring the games from one system to another. Instead, the new system is given the ability to download the games from the eShop, so I don't think anything is actually decrypted from the old system.

Ok, I read about 35 pages and hadn't seen this idea yet.

Everyone is talking about DSi mode, and how it isn't really useful for 3DS hacking because it runs in a hypervisor. To this I say: "why not try"? OtherOS mode in PS3 ran in a hypervisor too, but the hypervisor itself was getting chipped away slowly, which is why Sony removed the capability. Why not start with DSi mode, and see what we can do to crack the hypervisor?

Because the only DSi mode flashcart is now dead.

It can be hacked through the sd slot if being used along with a flashcart with an sd card reader app.

if u have the flash cart, why hack it.

@[member='harg'], impossible, once Slot-1 is booted, SD card access is locked out. To put it simply, your 3DS turns into a DS lite. If you use a Cyclo DSi, then you're in DSi mode, you still won't be able to access the 3DS hardware. Again, your 3DS turns into a DSi.


Sorry about that mate, on a serious note though maybe Transfer a Mii with an exploit or scan an exploited QR code. It's quite unlikely but it could be worth a try.

how would u transfer a mii to ur 3ds to hack it if the 3ds cant read the hack so u can attach it to the mii. and u cant do it through the qr card reader because the unhacked 3ds cant read it

im no expert but what if u changed the dns on ur 3ds to a program's dns that sends a file through a notification or swapnote, etc. that hacks the 3ds?

How about trying to hack 3DS mode and make 3DSMode Flash carts
black and white 2 obviously have access to the 3DS that the dsi and ds carts are useless for maybe you can exploit the access to the 3DS functions

no they actually don't access it, only the exclusive app Pokemon Dream Radar can use 3DS mode
Pkmn b2/w2 actually connects to the 3DS wirelessly to transfer the Pokemon from DR to b2/w2

For those that don't know what I'm talking, what happened was that whenever an ''Oracle of Seasons'' cartridge was put into a GBA, you got an exclusive shop that was unavailable if you put the cartridge in a GBC

I was thinking the same thing, If Pokemon B&W2 have some kind of code that can only be readed on 3DS, and its on nds format we may be able to check and modify the code. Or not, because of the NDS mode, that blocks the 3DS function, but maybe it leads to something.

but will anyone/he be able to hack/crack the 3ds files?

Indeed, there indeed has been an incredible amount of progress because of this, that's all I can say. (Otherwise it would ruin the surprise)
