I just got a vita and I heard psp games look way better on the vita. Do they look grainy at all since it is a higher res screen? I have a psp and I was wondering if it would be worth it to rebuy ghost of Sparta, peacewalker, Valkyrie Chronicles, pes3 and monster hunter. Is it that much better when I already have the games?

Will my monster hunter game save transfer to my vita? It is a hacked psp and I think the region for my Monster hunter was Europe.

i can't answer for the saves but I can testify for the screen quality. It's really gorgeous. You won't regret it. It's neither grainy or less sharp, the contrary actually!

There is a method for transferring saves across, but I've yet to get it to work. It does involve the content manager.

As far as I can tell though, if your save is in a different region to your console, it will definitely not work.

How to transfer saves from PSP to Vita.

1. Start a psp game on your vita and create a save file (doesn't matter what you just need a save)

2. Connect it to PC and open content manager

3. Transfer the save to the PC

4. Find out where that save was transferred to (you can also open content manager options on yor PV by clicking it in the taskbar down at the bottom right and it will have a folder listed). The folder is usually:

C:/> users > username > documents > PSVITA > PSAVEDATA > (a folder that just has numbers and letters) > in here is where you should find the psp saves

5. Plug your PSP into your PC and find your save files ( folder is in PSP > SAVEDATA)

6. Transfer the saves you want (or all of them) to the folder on PC that we found where the vita backs the psp saves to (the letter/number folder in PSAVEDATA)

7. Open content manager on vita and choose PC -> PSVITA

8. Choose applications > psp saves and check mark all the ones you want on your vita

Congratulations! You can now get all your psp saves on your vita

You will need to obtain a US copy of the game and the savegame deemer plugin to convert your save data to the US version.

Basically, install savegame deemer and the US iso. Load the foreign version and then save immediately after saving which will create 3 .bin files in SAVEPLAIN\gameid. Play the US version and create a new save for the game. Copy both SDDATA.BIN and SDINFO.BIN files from the foreign save to the US save (overwriting those two files in the directory for the US decrypted save data). Finally, load the US version of the game and then immediately save again after loading the save (which will write an encrypted version of the save).

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
